Solitude

To sit on rocks, to muse o'er flood and fell,
To slowly trace the forest's shady scene,
Where things that own not man's dominion dwell,
And mortal foot hath ne'er or rarely been;
To climb the trackless mountain all unseen,
With the wild flock that never needs a fold;
Alone o'er steeps and foaming falls to lean;
This is not solitude, 'tis but to hold
Converse with Nature's charms, and view her stores unrolled.

But midst the crowd, the hurry, the shock of men,
To hear, to see, to feel and to possess,
And roam alone, the world's tired denizen,
With none who bless us, none whom we can bless;
Minions of splendour shrinking from distress!
None that, with kindred consciousness endued,
If we were not, would seem to smile the less
Of all the flattered, followed, sought and sued;
This is to be alone; this, this is solitude!

Your opinions about this poem?

I love art, but I don't know who doesn't so I'm wondering who. If you don't like art then I completly understand, but tell me why and I might pick you for the best.If you do then I'm totaly with you, but tell me why.

Mine:
1. "Inivisible Monsters" by Chuck Palahniuk - an amazingly, haunting ending (I won't ruin it for those who haven't read it)

2. "Dogs of Babel" by Carolyn Parkhurst - true love between husband and wife and owner and dog, makes me cry

3. "Welcome to the Monkey House" by Kurt Vonnegut - his audacious sense of humor and extraordinary creative vision

4. "Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs" by Chuck Klosterman - I love pop culture and his writing is very assesible

5. "Memiors of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden - beautifully written, I find the geisha culture fascinating and the book left me very satisfied.

Its a poem about this man and how he could "speak many languages", and read many books, he was well versed, etc. but then in the end he couldn't keep up his "image" so he shot himself.

I know it ends in "he shot himself"
I don't know who it is by but if you could help that would be AMAZING. Its probably about three short stanzas long.

I am just curious who I am asking questions to. I am new to Yahoo Answers and some of the answers to my questions have seemed pretty childish and empty. Are most of the people who usually answer questions here mainly interested in just getting points like it is a game or are they interested in serious intellectual discussion?

Life is great, don't get me wrong....but isn't it just a drag sometimes. Who else is starved of inspiration because of the routine treadmill of life? Who else is fed up with the merry-go-round and wants to get off? Who else finds the T.V., newspapers etc droll?

There are so many out there that seem better than Harry but what do you think? Personaly I think these books rival Harry:
-Eragon
-Eldest
-The Gatekeeper books (Raven's Gate, Evil Star, and more to come!)
-The Septimus Heap books are good too... (Magyk, Flyte)
-And some others I can't really think of! LOL

So tell me what you books you think rival Harry!

*NOTE*
Don't post if you've never even read a Harry Potter book cause then your answer is pointless! Also this is not a place to hate on Harry Potter or any books of the like. So don't try it!

Cults. A&E aired a documentary last night about Jim Jones and the mass suicide/homicides at Jonestown. It scares me that the human mind can be so distorted into believing that they must kill themselves because someone else says so. If it can happen to others, who's to say we all couldn't just lose our minds one day and stop thinking for ourselves? I know that I have a strong, stubborn mind and that I stand firm in my beliefs, but who's to say that these other people weren't like that. Maybe I'm just afraid that the human mind can be so easily controlled. That's frightening. What does everyone else think about this?

The goodness of God.?

for the sake of this question, lets all assume God exists, so do not turn this into a question of his existance.
Did God create that which is Good or is Good always self existing?
To explain it, Did God decide what is good or was there always a self existing Goodness and God points it out. If God decides what is Good that means God can make eating babies good and it would be good. If there is already a set of what is good than God merely obeys it and tells us. So does God love the Good or does Gods love make it Good?
