Even though I was breathlessly hooked by the first book in Gabaldon's time-travel series, I find myself scanning the pages of her extremely long sequels, searching for the plot elements and skipping some of the dialogue.

I do enjoy the relationships between the characters, and I admire the author's incorporation of research into her plots. The plot developments keep me reading to find out what will happen to these folks.

But--Does anybody else find some of these l-o-n-g novels to be a bit wordy? I'd like the books even more if they were about half as long.

Is this just me, or does anybody else have this reaction?

as in there are ancient truths but they lack modern belief, the truth of the ancients is still there its just the belief of man that has changed about these truths. or as in the truth is there is no santa clause but 100 years from now little kids will still"believe" in santa even though the truth about santa will remain forever, its just your belief about santa that will change, but the truth about him never will

I'm writing a story about werewolves and blah so as u can imagine therre's a LOT of information i want to get out to the reader so they understand customs and the main character (and her fam's) life style.

How can i do that...like merge it with the story and not make it sound like an info-mercial/essay?

Oh and please don't say my idea is stupid....

i don't plan on getting it published so you don't need to dis it

I am interested in acting/directing. I am 16 -not american btw- and going to an acting school is not my priority, but I am thinking of studying acting or directing sometime, although my family wouldn't encourage me. The thing is that.. I have been looking at famous actresses' biographies, and they all have been acting since they were 10 or so. So can a regular person hope to succeed? And will I have the time needed -because it 's so competitive and I am going to study something else first, just to be sure about myself?
And something else: Is it true -it's what people say- that if you want to be an actress, you 'll have to go through some stuff -like flirting with producers for example? lol

I had heard that if you were a descendent of an American Indian that you could fill out some forms and receive a small amount of unclaimed funds the government has. My great grandmother was a full blooded Indian so I was curious about this. Links, emails, etc...All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

this is not a racist question, but one dealing with the revolution of racist ideas expressed by n.g during the 1970's. it is quite profound in it's meaning for those still holding onto racist ideals. by the way, Nikki Giovanni is black.
