OK, I know this is strange. I seem to stumble into accidental themes when reading. Last year, I seemed to read a lot of stuff based in Japan. This year I have discovered two very enjoyable authors with nothing in common beyond their first name - Jim (Butcher and Thompson). Can anyone recommend any other authors called Jim whose books they've enjoyed? I will accept James.
To help narrow it down, I like detective novels and historical stuff and occasionally fantasy and horror. I draw the line at sci-fi and slush.

I am not a frequent movie watcher, but sometime ago i saw this movie called "spirited away" and it quickly became my favorite. THe movie carried me off to a world filled with the most abstract spawn of my imagination and pervaded my spirit so that i continued to revel about it long after it was finished. I know there must be HEAVY symbolism in it and i've caught some of it. But i would like to know what others think is symbolic.

When it comes to paint on canvas using your oil paints or whatever you use, what gives you inspiration? I dont make art for art's sake but rather paint when I feel I should describe something...

so when it comes to you painting, how do you figure out what you will paint/create?

My parents got me a video camera last year... and we realized i didn't have much use for it... my mother came up with the idea ot have an annual filming of each one of the family where i ask questions.. kind of like an interview. I need a list of questions to ask.. help please? ps... i'd film it around every Chistmas/New Year's.
So far:
Where do you see yourself in five or ten years?
Right now, who are some of your close friends, and what makes them such a good friend?
What humors you?
What makes you happy?
What makes you angry?
What book are you currently reading?
Who is an idol or influence in your life right now?
How do you feel about the present issues; is there anything you wish to voice?
Is there anything you are currently looking forward too?
If you could do anything tomorrow, what would it be an why?
Do you have any Resolutions? Why?

my last question of all would be:
Do you have anything else you'd like to say?

In the Fatboy Slim song Weapon of Choice, there's a line that goes :"Walk without rhythm/So you wont attract the worm". I was just wondering if this had anything to do with the Frank Herbert novels in which natives of the planet Dune have to develop an irregular walking style as regular sound patterns can be heard by giant worms under the surface of the planet. The lyrics seem to fit this fairly well.

I learned how critical survival is, and that no matter what the situation is you do anything to survive. What did you learn, it is for a my Literature class. We have to ask other people who read the book what they learned. Thanks

If God is all powerful yet he gave us free will and built this world with boundries and the structure of time. Then wouldn't it stand to reason that if he ( god himself) did anything to alter this world that he would break the boundaries he built. Not saying he couldn't influence man or beast even to do his work.

I am an author. I have written a novel I believe is an excellent murder mystery. It's been turned down by a dozen publishers over 10 years because it contains A. explicit language (every "dirty" word you ever heard), and B it contains explicit sex (like the "stroke fiction" you've heard about). The novel isn't written to be "hard-core", but the story required hard-core sex. I won't reveal the plot-line, so when you see the book on the store shelves, you won't know it's me. I AM curious if-- in 2007-- there is a market of modern ADULTS who would buy and read and ENJOY a very realistic novel with EXPLICIT language and EXPLICIT sexual content? Picture Quentin Tarantino "explicit dialog" with DESCRIPTIONS of scenes from porno movies. The plot is EXCELLENT. Your opinions, please.

o.k. ive been dancing for about 4 months now. and ive found out that im pretty good at some things and not so great at others. jumps im good at, but turns im not. sha-nays (idk the french spelling) are my worst enemy right now. i CANNOT spot for my life. i can do it, but im bad. i have to take the turns one at a time and i hold up the class. and i kno that you have to spot when turning because otherwise you get dizzy. so, if you have any tips on how to spot better and exercises i can do to help they would be VERY MUCH appreciated. i would like to prove myself even more to my classmates and not almost run into the mirror when i turn. (lol) Thanks!!

And if your wondering, Yes. I think I let my inner-child free. Maybe even a little too much lol.I like playing childhood games with my little cousins, collecting stuffed animals, indulging in a good bowl of ice cream and watching The Lion King on a Friday night for the 100th time. =)
