Presumably, one gives a gift because one believes the receipient will receive some joy or pleasure from it. If one doesn't know the recipient, it's presumptuous to assume he or she would derive pleasure from a book on one's own religious philosophy. If a book is in order, the giver would do well to find out something about the recipient, and then choose a book that reflects the recipient's interests rather than the interests of the giver.

There is nothing wrong with giving a devotion book, as long as someone has not been pushing beliefs on him/her. Devotions can be very calming, and sometimes helps them have a better day, especially when they're having a rough day and the daily devotions went along with the problems they had experienced.

Only if that person practices the religion appropriate to the book. I am an Athiest, so if you were to give it to me, I would probably give it back. You should give a gift that the receiver will enjoy. If you think the other person would also like reading it, then give it. If your not sure, find another gift.

It depends on who the person is. If for whatever reason, you think they will appreciate or enjoy it, then I definitly would. But if you are just trying to convert a non-christian friend, they will more likely be offended and you'll achieve the opposite of your goal.

Totally, if you think they would like it too. If you don't think they would like it though then maybe not. It's cool you want to share something you like with them but it is a Christmas gift. I am pretty sure you would want to receive something you would like. Put yourself in this persons shoes.

Only if you think they would like it. The best gift is one they would appreciate, even if it isn't your cup of tea.
