It tells us how we should dress, how we should act, how we should resolve our problems. We religiously watch our shows once a week, and the characters and their lives are more real to us than any myth or biblical tale ever was. It provides us with a sense of comfort and knowledge of another world which might not exist, but could and is real to us. It fills that void in our lives that used to be filled by religion, and reaches out to everybody--most of whom embrace it willingly. Even the most logical of athiests suspends their disbelief when watching dragons attack on the sci-fi channel, and the most devout of christians watch their religion channels with as much fervor. Television brings all faiths together, and keeps us all connected by that mesmeric glare of a cathode ray tube. The televisionists comprise the largest congregation in the whole world, and no other religion can compare to its numbers
