Okay, leaving Butch Cassidy aside, there is absolutely no proof that either he or Jesse James or Billy the Kid faked their own deaths and lived to ripe old ages (there is actually plenty of evidence that they died in the manner and place and time that the history books record but, not unlike Elvis today, some people have always had a difficult time accepting their hero's mortality) I would say the answer is Emmet Dalton. He was a member of the Dalton Gang and the sole survivor of the ill fated Dalton Gang Coffeyville raid. He was shot to pieces in the attempt to rob two banks simultaneously but somehow survived his wounds and was sentenced to life in prison. I'm not sure how many years he served, I want to say that it was something like ten, but was a model prisoner and finally released. He moved to California, wrote a book and became a consultant to a Hollywood studio for their western movies. When he died in 1939 he was probably the last surviving outlaw, of any note anyway. Being an outlaw wasn't exactly career path that lent itself to long range retirment planning.
Just as an aside, if anyone was wondering how it was that he wasn't hanged after the Coffeyville robbery, which left four townspeople dead and several wounded, after the gunfight which ranged through the town it was determined that his gun hadn't been fired. Apperently Emmet, who was little more than a kid, had been drafted into the gang by his two brothers Bob and Grat. Both of them were killed in Coffeyville, along with the two other members of the gang, leaving Emmet as the sole survivor. In that sense he wasn't exactly a famous outlaw in his own right but as he was an actual member of the Dalton Gang he is probably the best answer to your question . Hope that helps.

I think it was Butch Casady because he returned to his home in Utah and lived to a ripe old age telling stories about his exploits.
