Just sitting outside alone and looking at the stars and the moon... Or looking at the shadows or trees... that looks like shadows waving in the wind. Feeling the wind against your face...

To me it seems so peaceful. Does anyone else feel like this?

I have just returned from standing outside, star gazing, when coming back in I opened to your question.

My soul is dark as night and when the sun goes down my energy rate, brightens. I think of how it must have been, when man wondered at the stars and did not know what we know now as to even their nature. Out in the open, gazing upwards, the sound of wind rustling through the trees, a spider near a light, weaving her web and settling in it's center to wait for moths. I walk through the dark, gazing upwards, studying the moon, listening to small creatures and the hoot of an old owl, and feel I am in the center of the Universe and when perchance I spot a shooting star my heart soars that I was able to be there to see it.

I settle in my home again, until a half an hour or so later, the program I am watching goes into commercial and I think to myself, I must go out again and begin my reverie once again, outside, in the dark, for now the stars have changed again their position and the moon a little higher in the sky. Is it like this for you too? Are you drawn to it? I began as a child, and now a woman, still, it draws me forward. I suppose it always will.

I like the feel that comes to my mind,
As the shadows of darkness fall,
The quiteness hardly a noise can you find,
When the darkness makes it nightly call,
The land becomes dark and the lights go on,
And the time of the clock sings it's nightly song,
tick, tick while outside the air is cool,
The wind blow smoothly through your hair,
When the darkness falls and the moon shines,
I hardly have a care.

Thats what I think of the night

Ohh...feels like you are describing my hidden hobby..
i used to do that when i was a teen, at my parents's home.. situated at countryside..surrounded with few fruit trees, and paddy fields..i sit outside just to watch the moonacre..and if there's no moon, there will be stars on the dark blue sky..
the background sound will be played by crickets!..
so peaceful...memories o memories...

A symphony of rustling leaves, acorns bouncing around, swaying branches, occasional hoots, crickets softly chirping and moths buzzing tirelessly toward the light. This is why I like sitting outside on an Autumn night.

OH YES........ I do still recall when I was a teenager (many moons ago) just sitting inside, gazing outside through the tall picture window in my family's den and letting my mind wander. (Although I am cautioned about such mind-wandering since I graduated college.) I have since this time (post college) only very few times actually just sat outdoors (commonly during trips to New Mexico) and let my mind REST....... and usually, I am ALERTED to wake up and smell the coffee again. - SUCH A SHAME!
REALITY..... What a concept!

I am the same way. there is nothing like laying under the vast sky and imaging the world beyond what you can see. Spotting the rare shooting star or the seeing the twinkle of a star picking out satilites and planets. watching the moon travel around.

My husband and I love the outdoors. I find it relaxing. I have star gazed in every state in the us but really loved the skies out west in Montana, and Wyoming. The fall is a great time as the cooler weather clears the skies up. We live in the country in Northern Indiana with a lake in our back yard. There is nothing I enjoy more than being out there with Mike.

Oh yes, a lot... it feels like a bliss, and passage of time quite un-noticed ! Nights are very very supportive to peace in the being.
Perhaps why ancient people chose night time for meditations too !

I do. I love to sit outside late at night. I find it very peaceful. I hate the Sun. Too bright. Bah!
