Why do humans feel the need to create some sort of intangible realm of connection to some other being? (whether it be to God, Gods, or each other . . . .) we seem to imagine our subconscious minds connect to something greater in some ephemeral place.

I understand that this idea stems from human loneliness, and our sense that we cannot connect to others - but are we not going about this backwards?

I mean our minds are the one thing we DON'T share! THIS is the place where our minds connect (not yahoo answers, as great as it might be, but in existence). This is where we can learn to understand one another. This is where we are inextricably a part of everything that is - a mere drop in an ocean no doubt - but a part of the ocean none the less.

Is this not the forum in which we ARE connected to something greater than ourselves? And that something is the all of existence.

When existence is seen from this perspective I have to ask what is it that makes us think we are alone?

we're all quick to judge whether one persons either smart or stupid, but is there really actually a line drawn between the two that makes it easy to see?

They say that it ain’t right
That you being you isn’t what God would say was okay
That your breath should be taken
That your love should be nothing more but the sights of backdoor alleys
Hidden in darkness for the public doesn’t want to see such unnatural things
They say that you are forsaken
To be burned and agonized in a cave with brimstone
They say that you don’t have morals
That your life is that of mistakes and wants
That the heart was never supposed to desire
But they cant see your slight magical ways
Your sayings of life
Your hope for the future and your strength for the now
They cannot see your smile
Your love that makes all those things they say are wrong
Feel so right
They cannot see your faith in the real teaching of religion
That the decision of life in paradise is not decided by the words of man
Thier sayings hold no meanings in your ears
For they are full of fear
They are not what makes you who you are
I love you even if they won't

The father in "Legends of the Fall" thinks about how manly and heroic his son Tristan is and realizes that he reminds him of his own father - who was manly and heroic.

Then he aks himself if it is true that character skips a generation, that every other generation is born bland, faceless, unremarkable.

Is that true and how do you know if you're that generation? How do you know if you have character, that you aren't just a name that will be forgotten, squeezed between legendary figures? Is there any way to know?

And what do you do if you suspect that you are the generation without character, no more than an empty set of clothes?

I think it's called: "What if" or something similar to that. It ran in "Poetry" magazine about ten years ago. It goes, "what if bullets in boxes became chocolate wrapped in gold foil?" I want the complete version. It was such a wonderful poem and i cannot find it anywhere.

I would so love to start using an airbrush to learn some about airbrushing before I head off to college, I am hopefully going to attend OTC (Ohio Technical College) and take the Auto-body with custom paint and graphics course.

Does anyone have any personal opinions on airbrushes and where would be a good place to paint with an airbrush?

I am 17 and till now I havent stuck to a particlar hobby all my life. I have done several things like karate, yoga, drama and cross country but I have never done anything for more than few months. Its not that I am fickle but these were all short term programs. This day I saw these friends of mine on stage dancing and after that I saw them smiling proudly when everybody was congratulating them. I really wanna do something like that, join some sports or dance class but I have a feeling that I wont be able to do it for too long as I will be going to university and then when I complete my post secondary education, I will be like 23 and then you know I wont be able to do it for long

I know the first thought would be that there are not enough units to house the population but in truth, New York's population has been relatively constant over the past 20 years. Rents and mortgages have far outpaced inflation. My father rented a two bedroom in 1966 for 129$. That unit would be about 3K now. I have heard it suggested that Section 8, rent control and a huge number of abandoned buildings have contributed to the spike in prices. Still, I think it must be that owners can demand these amounts because people are willing to pay it to live in the center of the universe.
