"People think worldly education is real education. This is not correct. Real education comes from the heart. Such an education is unwavering and lasting. Atma vidya (knowledge of the Self) is the real education. Devoid of such Atma vidya, what is the use of all your intelligence and education?"

I have just read one of her books, and am interested in reading some more of hers. Has anyone read Irish Devil? Can you just run through what you read and a simple bit of detail about the story line? Many thanks

I've heard a couple of times lately about places were you can send a DNA sample and they will analyze it and then they can tell you a lot about your ancestory. Can you recommend a reputable place to send mine? Also, what is a reasonable price for this service?

I am very much in to reading Historical fiction.

At the moment I am into Ancient China or Imperial China.

I have read Secrets of Jin-Shei and Embers of Heaven by Alma Alexander and have also read Empress Orchid by Anchee Min.

Can anyone recommed any similar novels, but discount Embers of Heaven as that one was more about Republicans and Nationalists. Revoulution and such.

I'm not going back to Russia, Iraq, or the dirty rock I crawled out from under. I'm staying right here. and if you don't like that then maybe you should be the one who goes back to wherever it is that you come from.
failing that, maybe you should listen to what people say, think about it a little bit, and give a considered response instead of just closing your ears and eyes.

like you think you're sooo nice for not shooting someone in the face just for speaking his mind. when really you live in a country where there is a definite chill on certain kinds of speech, certain things are not permitted to be spoken, and violence is returned for some kinds of words, just like anywhere else in the world. everywhere you go on this planet you will find things that you are not allowed to say, and the USA is no exception. I am sorry to say that I am going to continue to say what I want, but I will not pucker up and say thank you for not occupying my sphincter while you look around smugly and pretend you've done me a favour.
look at al-zarqawi, for instance. everybody knows that he didn't do any of the things he once claimed to have been a part of. that guy was incarcerated to shut him up. I'm not saying he wasn't asking for trouble by opening his mouth the way that he did, but he is in prison now because of what he said, not because of what he did.

For the sake of argument I am hypothesizing that the Roman army is at the height of its military capability i.e. that which fought under Julius Caesar, and that it numbers the same as Harold's army - 'seven to eight thousand strong'.
