Advertise. Go to shops that specialize in making posters, cards etc or graphic design shop and offer you're services as a personal calligrapher. If that doesn't work, post flyer's and posters advertising you're work (get permission to do this though)
If all else fails, open a little stall at the a local market (preferably a arts and crafts market), and be sure to display examples of what you're work can be used for eg, file and folder covers, posters, titles, family tree layouts etc.
It is though being out of work, especially if you're skill is a fine art, but small beginnings like these can lead to greater things.

Couples getting Married are always looking for calligraphers for wedding invites so do a business card for yourself and drop it into wedding shops.
