I've recently gotten into Harry Turtledove's alternate history series The Great War. He wrote a whole series that starts with the South winning the Civil War and goes through to what the world would be like if the Confederacy was a separate country during WW1. It is incredibley well written and interesting to read.

I'm writing a book, so I'm reading the first draft of it. I rewrite any book several times to improve various things in it, and I often find new information to add to essays. I am indeed gathering material to add. The book is the 4th edition of "THE COSTLIEST WATCH BRANDS". The others were completed in 1996, 1999 and 2003. One must update such a book every few years, for prices can change radically. Which watch brands do you think are costliest? Many people imagine that Rolex is costliest, but it places 36th thus far in my new book. I cannot suggest my book, for it is unfinished. Before I started writing, I was reading some science books, e.g. string theory, evolution, relativity, etc. Try them!

I just finished reading the Harry Potter series to my children and currently I'm reading "The Story of M"...A Memoir by Maria Isabel Pita (adults only). I have also read "Princess...A True Story of Life Behind the Veil by Jean Sasson. I like certain genres and if it sounds interesting I'll read it. Rarely have I been disappointed in my choices. I also like Horror and True Crime. Ann Rule is a wonderful True Crime author. For Horror I like John Saul, Anne Rice (The Mayfair Witches series) and Dean Koontz. The "Dark" series by Christine Feehan is also very good if you like Vampire and Carpathian stories.

Let's see...I just finished:
The Expected One by Kathleen McGowan really excellent and thought provoking.
Any of the 5 Steve Barry books are absolutly fantastic.
For fun go into the young adult section and pick up the Pendragon series (7 are out as far as I know now) by D.J. MacHale. My children and I all enjoyed these. Happy reading.

Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice is what I'm currently reading.
I'd suggest to read all her novels, both in the Vampire Chronicles and anything relating to them. She also has some other great books.

I'd also suggest reading Stephen King. Do you like horror movies? Well, his novels are so much better!

The Three Musketeers. Lightweight and spontaneous. The action goes smoothly since it's been written quite long ago in times with far slower pace of life - so you can virtually feel the tranquility that it emits.

I saw that you were asking how to ask a girl out to dinner. I suggest John Gray's "Mars and Venus on a Date". I'm sure it has been translated to Chinese. It is a terrific how-to on dating and I recommend it to anyone. Women like attention and being asked, even if they say no. Sometimes they will say no the first time, but then later will say yes!

I recently started reading the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and would recommend them to anyone who has never read them. The older English can be hard to follow, but the stories are classics.
