Personally, I think that as long as the human mind seeks to better itself through positive and productive efforts, there will always be Hope for our World.

Hope is always there. When oppression goes beyond tolerance the result will be revolt. It can take any form like Iran trying become a nuclear nation, North Korea threatening USA, alQuaida terrorists, Pakistan become the base for manufacture of terror etc etc. Most of the media is in the hands of the 530 rich people you have mentioned. They utilize it to advertise their philanthropic acts which is a drop in the ocean of poverty. The UNO has become an eye wash.It has not so far passed any resolution demanding that the entire amount spent by its members for arms ammunition's, space program, etc should be spent for the improvement and welfare of the people across the Globe. Instead it has taken the role of official policeman. When UNO genuinely thinks of the welfare of humanity things will improve greatly and world will become a happy place

There has never been reason to have hope. The situation has looked grim since the beginning of time. That is part of the human condition, anyone wanting to sit around in the land of the lotus eaters is going to get screwed because it's a dangerous place that doesn't treat laziness and unawareness very well.

The answer is unequivocally yes. I know this because I have hope. It's that simple.

That's just right now though, ask me when Im hungry and sleep-deprived, and I would probably tell you something different.

I hate to have the pessemistic view. But I don't think so. Stupid, greedy people, produce more stupid greedy people. I look at the world today, and the people in it, and wonder how it possibly works at all! How do we not blow ourselves up, and the whole planet die! How do we function, and manage to get anything done? I am truely amazed! All I know is to try to take care of myself and the few close friends and family. Let the rest of the world unfortunetly take care of itself. If money was not an issue, I would be a different kind of philanthropist. I would at least try to make an effort to do something. Even at a local level, you can't help people that don't want to help themselves. It's very sad. p.s. sorry for the awful spelling. lol The spell checker on this thing takes forever! lol

This might sound corny, but it starts with kindness and caring. One person CAN make a difference. And this does not mean giving to panhandlers. Give to charities, volunteer or donate your unwanted items to the Goodwill, etc,. All of those things will make a difference. I have known so many people who throw everything away, don't recycle, and could care less about the plights of the community and the world. That is the downfall of our selfish ways. We need to unite and bring HOPE.

It has always been like this.
Thousands of slaves build the pyramids as the tomb of their Pharaoh.
In ancient Athens slaves were working the fields when the citizens of Athens were talking about democracy.
Castles have been built for kings throughout history.
Those 530 people that you are talking about are the royalties of our era.
It sucks as it has always.
And there is hope.

It sounds as though you are making a statement rather than asking a question. Regardless...have you heard of Darwin? The natural state of the world is not equality for all. Within certain parameters and conditions, the strongest survive. It is the natural order for animals AND humans. There is hope if we let let nature take its course.

You ask a difficult question. I hope and wish that there IS hope for the world, but, sincerely, the answer is within the grasp of the future generation.

The world yes. It's gonna make it. The humans...jury is still out on that.

We don't have to save the world. Save the people.

as long as there is you and me... no matter if only two of us believes hope still springs eternal, it will never cease to exist. no matter how small the percentage who believes that mankind has a brighter future and we have a better tomorrow, hope is there.

whatever ills one witnesses, whatever fate brings up, no matter the pain, hope is among the traits mankind has to survive the onslaught of darkness... faith and compassion being the other.
