I honestly don't get it. It was called one of the "scariest movies" of that year.
Three guys hook up in Europe for some uninhibited, meaningless sex, pot smoking, and alcohol abuse, only to get lured into a trap with the promise of even MORE uninhibited meaningless sex, and find a group of people who have sunk to the next level of depravity, for which sex and drugs are no longer thrilling, now they have to kill people to get a rise. Are we surprised? And this is scary why?
To make it worse, the survivor who gets away lowers himself to the level of his captors and goes on a little killing spree. So in essense, he learned absolutely nothing.
Was it gory? yeah. Graphic, violent? Yup. Excessive nudity and sex? You betcha. But scary? Please. Were it not for my excessive eye rolling I would have fallen asleep.
Please explain why this movie is so scary. Do you empathize with the characters? Do you really think this could happen to you?
