I have been trying to learn about the history of the early church, and when reading about the Gnostics, (1st century Christians) I discovered that they actually believed in a metaphorical savior, not a literal one. This led me to explore earlier beliefs and I learned that almost all dietys from early pagan religions have a Jesus like story in them. See the link below for a list.

Just wondering how Christians account for this?
Please don't invoke the devil clause, unless you have to because these religions predated Christianity and in some cases Judaism.
