they could be saying that to get you jealous and see what your reaction is to their comment..as they may infact LIKE you instead but just don't know how to express that to you
or
they are shy and want you to be aware of their liking in the friends you hang with
BUT..
i don't think they're saying it because they think you're ugly~*
Just relax...next time ask...why they think your friends are "hella cute" and see what they have to say about it~*

Maybe they do think you are ugly, I don't know. I will say that I believe that for a lot of guys, it is easier to come out and say that they like a another girl or that she is "hella hot" through another person than it is to say it to them directly. Maybe some guys even tell your friends that they think YOU are hot. Probably a good idea too if they want to avoid being too forward... Hopefully the word gets back to them.

I dont even know what the word "hella" means.
But I'm sure they're just being stupid dorky guys who dont know what to say when they are talking to a charming girl such as yourself. I dont think they mean you're ugly, I think they dont know WHAT else to say! Seriously...guys are dorks.

no they don't think you are ugly they either are trying to make you jealous! :) OR are trying to say they like your friend but even if they think you are cute they only think of you as a friend.
