Has your kid ever said anything regarding religion that just made you so proud?
Here is part of a conversation my son (D) and I were having the other day: (he's 8)

J: According to the bible God made Adam and Eve and from them came everyone else.
D: That doesn't make any sense. Then everyone would be like, related to everyone. That would mean everyone was like, having incest or something.
J: *laughing SO hard*
D: What? Seriously!
J: Well, that is one of the many reasons Momma doesn't believe in God, a lot of the bible just makes no sense...to me. It's okay if you do though. Religion is very personal, YOUR religion is no one else's business but your own.
D: Yeah but like, some people really think like dinosaurs went on the ark and stuff with Noah? That's crazy. Dinosaurs were here and gone before people came.
J: Well, I agree but they have the right to think that if they want. Don't they?
D: Pshhh, I guess. [rolls eyes]

Ahhhh youth....

Coffee is not allowed in rest homes unless it is decaf. Coffee is also not allowed in county jails...only chickory beverages. Medical professionals SAY coffee is bad for your joints, yet they have no prove. They also say it is bad for your heart & blood pressure, yet no proof exists. So, I pose this question...DOES caffeine cause some type of inner turmoil for seniors that puts them at odds with everyone, or just those who mix caffeine with meds (blood pressure, etc) & stress out to the point of being a health risk that puts a financial burden on insurance companies & themselves.

Frankly, if I'm not invited to a wedding, I do not take it personally because there are so many possible valid reasons (lack of space, conflicts with other guests, maybe I'm not as close as I think, etc.). But some people have actually confronted my friends demanding an explanation of why they weren't invited. Mortifying!! Geez, there are other friends I've had for 20 years I was unable to invite...why do people feel "entitled" to attend a wedding? Guests lists are difficult enough as it is! Not sure how to respond if/when they confront me.

You were worship no other god from me.

(It's one of the ten commandements)

Does this mean that he is acknowledging the existence of other gods and telling us not to worship them? Do these other gods exist? Can we choose a god and be right whichever one we choose?

Everyone's always talking about how perfect the universe is; it's 'just right' for us to live here...Sorry, but I don't see it:

My eyes will no longer function properly if I look at the sun.

The sun will give you skin cancer, just for being in it too long.

Oh what is it, 20% of the Earth's surface is actually solid ground? And we can't even live on the majority of land.

Isn't the Andromeda Galaxy on a collision course with ours?

Just curious, what are these 'perfectly designed' aspects of our universe? *BeADickAndGetAReport* Kthxbye.

My employer knowingly employs illegal immigrants and also someone who supplies legal papers to the illegal immigrants in exchange for large amounts of money. I have called the ICE hotline and reported them 3 times already but nothing has been done. I was told by a supervisor that the company has immigration taken care of and they don't have to worry about getting caught. Who else can I contact about the illegal immigrants?

10. I think of you as a brother. (You remind me of that inbred
banjo-playing geek in "Deliverance.")

9. There's a slight difference in our ages. (You are one
jurassic geezer.)

8. I'm not attracted to you in 'that' way. (You are the ugliest
dork I've ever laid eyes upon.)
7. My life is too complicated right now. (I don't want you
spending the whole night or else you may hear phone calls from
all the other guys I'm seeing.)

6. I've got a boyfriend (who's really my male cat and a half
gallon of Ben and Jerry's).

5. I don't date men where I work. (Hey, bud, I wouldn't even
date you if you were in the same 'solar system', much less the
same building.)

4. It's not you, it's me. (It's not me, it's you.)

3. I'm concentrating on my career. (Even something as boring
and unfulfilling as my job is better than dating you.)
2. I'm celibate. (I've sworn off only the men like you.)

...and the number 1 rejection line given by women (and what it
actually means)
1. Let's be friends. (I want you to stay around so I can tell
you in excruciating detail about all the other men I meet and
have sex with. It's that male perspective thing)

It's simple, atheists, theists, and polytheists have just as much solid evidence as everyone else, so it's equally likely that everyone is right and wrong. In cases such as this, where there are two or more equally likely possibilities, all of these possibilities are true at once until the real answer is seen. As such, continued debates of the matter are pointless, since everyone's view is inherently correct and incorrect simultaneously until we can see for sure, right?

Put in much more simple terms, if you were to flip a coin, but cover it the moment it landed without looking at it, it will be at that moment, simultaneously heads and tails until you look at it and determine which of those two equally likely possibilities it really is. Now, I know what you're thinking, "even if we can't see it, it's still physically one or the other, right?" That is true, but in what way is religion physical, it's all about perception, is it not? Not trying to change anyone's religion here, btw

...knowing he was going to send people there?

Especially if people didn't believe because there was no real proof?? That seems like a crappy reason to torture someone in hell forever to me. If he gave us hardcore evidence, and people still said screw it, I could maybe see him banishing those people. But as things stand now, why? Does anyone know or have an opinion or thought on this?

I'm leaving tonight for New York...I will only be there for the weekend. What are some great things to do with limited time.

I'm mostly interested in art museums, but are any open during the weekend? I don't care for the touristy stuff like the Statue of Liberty or Empire State Building, Ground Zero is too heartbreaking and the Broadway shows I would have liked to have seen are on strike.

I'm sure the possibilities are endless....any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I had a guy over for dinner the other night. I was supposed to be off that day, but I got sent 2 hours out of town to work. I had called him the day before to let him know I had to work and it would just be ready later.
This was my 7th (LONG) day working in a row, then 2 hours out of town. I got home and started cooking. He got there and I was still in my work clothes and looking pretty beat. He had gotten home from work and taken a shower and looked really nice. Do you think it bothered him that i didn't take the time to clean myself up? He knew I had only been home about an hour before he got there, and had been cooking. I was getting late and I knew he would be hungry.
What do you think?
