Assuming a space ship designed in a circular fashion with a diameter equal to one kilometer. If the ship has a translational motion and a circular motion in space making one revolution around itself in a minute (1rpm). The outward surface would be traveling at Dpi every minute or 3.14 kilometers/min or (52 m/s.) Now if we extend the radius of the space ship 1000 times making the diameter to be 1000 kilometers, then the outward surface of the ship would travel 52 kilometers/second.

If the need arose as we progress in our technology through the years assuming that nuclear energy is used to power the ship and at a certain stage we decided to enlarge that ship's diameter 10,000 times its previous dimensions. At this point we would have the outward surface travel at a speed = 520,000 k/s, while the speed at 500 meters from the center of the ship travels only at 52 m/s. what are the possibilities to extend that outward surface to make it travels beyond the speed of light? And what would prevent us to make the ship rotates at that speed?

My co-workers are putting on a baby shower this Sunday for another co-worker. I can't go to the shower because of previous plans and in all honesty I completely forgot about getting a gift to send along with a co-worker, it was the last thing on my mind. I have no time tonight to go look for something because of appointments and tomorrow, I'm in meetings all day including a lunch meeting. Tomorrow would have been the day I passed along the gift because it's the last time I see my co-workers until Monday.

Is it that bad that I will probably not give a gift? The co-worker with the baby and I were not close at all if that makes any difference.

I've been going through the headlines for ideas but everybody just shoots everybody. Boring. I've thought of pushing something heavy off the balcony, poison in the beverage, a banana peel on the stairs. All the usual stuff but I want something different. People have separate rooms but the wannabe murderer has access. It can't be something premeditated that takes a lot of planning because the idea doesn't occur until everyone is already there. Or are only certain people welcome? What is acceptable here in R&S and what isn't? Do the rules apply to everyone or just those you disagree with? And why is it necessary to gang up on another user? Shouldn't differences be handled between the two original people through private email?

I would like to think that those that frequent this board would be the most humane, moral, self aware... regardless of what we believe. Instead there is mostly judgement, ridicule, a lack of respect for one another.

I'm really curious how Australian survive an average day when it contrains almost all of the most poisonus/dangerous insects and animals in the world packed into one country? Even the waters surrounding it have the most poisonus aquatic creatures, not to mention all the sharks.
