Even if the Mitchell Committee releases the names of these players, what will happen to them, nothing! The players aren't going to jail for it and besides it doesn't tell you anything. If players are tested negative then what is next? I feel that congress should be more involved in more pressing issues than wasting their time in some drug problem in baseball.

Hi, I'm a newbie here. I'm a single 45 y mom w/a 12 y child. Dated the same man for 6 years (some down time, not much). It's hard to work, raise kid and date. I'm tired of packing o/n clothes and playing spend the night. I want more. He keeps making excuses for not wanting to marry. He's had his cake and ate it, too. I lose myself every year. He's 4 yrs younger, never been married, no kids. I pursued him initially. We're taking a 2 month break at the suggestions of a counselor. I've basically gave an ultimatum - which I regret. But what if I had waited another year. I almost settled on living together, but it's not for me. A piece of paper means something - it's the ultimate compliment, the ultimate show of love for me. I'm sad and lonely and consumed with what he'll say after 2 months. Should I make a preemptive strike and just break it off not. He's a good, good man - good in bed, too. He's whiny though and I feel like a stronger person.

HOW LONG DO WE HAVE?

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government."

"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury."

"From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years"

"During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:

1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage"

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000
Presidential election:

Number of States won by:
Gore: 19
Bush: 29

Square miles of land won by:
Gore: 580,000
Bush: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:
Gore: 127 million
Bush: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Gore: 13.2
Bush: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country.
Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..." Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy” phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

With the Springboks in the final, and it looking like they are most probably going to win. What do you think about the fact that according to SAfrica's minister of foreign affairs (forget the fool's name), the current Springbok team is the last team to be chosen purely on merit, "players chosen on merit alone shouldn't mean white players only".

The South African Government's argument is that an all white team is not 'representative' of South Africans. But surely it makes sense that if we can send a team of our best players to play in the world cup (irrespective of race), which just happens to form one of the best teams in the world right now; that that team is the best team to represent our country? Hence representing every kind of South African.

What do you as a non south african rugby fan, think about that?

I normally don't put stock into what I dream in terms of meanings. Only once and that dream has now been put to rest (pardon the pun).
However, I'm getting this one, again...... I'm walking down the street, I trip & fall and when I try to get up, I am paralzyed and cannot walk.

Any suggestions as to what this encompasses?

My husband says my feet are tangled up in the sheets.

I'm a healthy individual who works out and I walk quite a bit.

Really curious as to your thoughts.

Sweet Dreams to all tonight.

I am a single mother of a 13 month old baby girl. I am having a hard time taking care of her and decided it would be best to join the Air Force(or maybe the Navy) so I could have some security and be able to take care of both of us...BUT I talked to a recruiter and he told me that I cannot join any branch of the military while being a single parent. I either have to get married or sign over my parental rights. Now I COULD marry my best friend, who is in his junior year of college in the engineering program and has a lot going for himself(so he wouldn't try to blackmail me) OR I could sign over my parental rights to my mother. The only thing about that is once I sign over my rights I have to sign a paper stating that I will not take her back until I do a 4yr term, get married, or under circumstances that I can't prevent(like my mother dying or becoming disabled).I know I'll want my daughter with me as soon as I get out of basic training...What should I do???
