I refered to two girls in my office as females and one of them though that it was disrepectful because it reduced them to medical terminology. We're all military so it's just natural for me to refer to females as females. No disrespect intended. Do you think she was over reacting or am I being a jerk?

My high school has majors and I'm in the Chemistry major and I want to design a T Shirt for us since it's senior year. I've already got the back side (says "CHEM ROCKS" using the periodic table boxes for each letter to pretend that all of them are elements.....) but I need something for the front.
The only one I could think of was "Lets mix fluids/liquids (don't know which one)" and have beakers and flasks mixing stuff on the front, but it might be too kinky for high school (though last year's Bio-med kids had "Let's play doctor... It's time for your physical...")
So any suggestions?

If it were true, there'd be no points of contention. Perhaps the "truth" isn't found in the form of a religion. Your thoughts?

I am having difficutly coming up with wedding location ideas. I haven't really started looking yet I am just racking my brain & not coming up with much. We don't have a church that we regularly attend right now. Are there old churches in cities that you can just get married in? (as in do those exist or did I imagine that? and how would I find them?) I don't really feel comfortable just finding a random church but who knows. I am not against outside except I'm afraid I would worry about weather too much (and I don't want to sweat at my wedding!) Besides, church & beach & cruise where else are common wedding places? preferrably indoors

I'm going in to see my doctor because I've been losing a lot of weight lately. I took two really weak hits of weed last friday. Before that I haven't smoked weed since the beginning of last month. I will be checked up on monday. The doctor might be checking my blood and/or urine. Will he test for weed? and if so will he be able to detect any THC in my system?

I have been married what will be 5 yrs soon getting a nasty divorce and I am 25 yrs old going on 26 ;my husband is 35 yrs old.I have a daughter who is 5 yrs old from a previous relationship with an ex.bf and a son who will be turning 2 yrs old.
Long story short hubby cheated we seperated for 5-6 month(he moved in with his secratary) and i cheated in retaliation with my daughters bio-dad.When hubby and i got back together i was unaware i was pregnant with my now almost 2 yr old son.I informed hubby of the situation of paternity issues but the when the doctor placed the DOC in the timeline we got back together hubby said dna test was unnecessary.Well due to a medical emergency when my son was 1.5 we were forced to get a dna test done and it came out the child was not my hubbys which lead to my current divorce proceedings.I was a teacher but have not worked in 2 yrs.My ex.bf is still angry this happened he pays $600 in CS for our daughter but now we have a son?

Not a baiting or trolling question... Some people might be offended, but that's not my intent.

What I want to know is this - there's an old cliche regularly bandied about here on R&S about how atheists can understand right and wrong.

For me, the question is simple - it's my conscience.

When people actually ask how someone who doesn't believe in some musty old book can have learnt right from wrong, it makes me wonder if they ask the question because they have no conscience themselves?

Or do they just suppress that conscience when it contradicts their musty old books?

I am not talking about a new style or way of painting but how people are now selling their work. My mother, a well known local artist, has always tried to make the point that you should sell in galleries. while on the other hand my father is one of the leading pioners and most succesful artists who are currently selling their work via online venues, mostly ebay's well established art comunity. is this a another case of the impressionists selling their work in group shows instead of the Salon de Paris in a modern world?

In the short story, The Necklace, a character named Methilde Loisel and her husband are invited to a reception. She uses this occassion to buy a new dress but she borrows her friend's necklace. The necklace was not made of real diamonds, but she didn't know that. On her way back home, she lost it and her and her husband went looking for the diamond necklace. They went to the police station, posted a reward in the newspaper, and went to cab companies. Finally, they went to a few jewelry stores before they found a similar diamond necklace. They took loans from people to pay for it. Ten years later, after all the debts are payed off, she sees her friend again and finds out that the necklace wasn't real. This just goes to show " How strange and unpredictable life is! How little there is between happiness and misery!" Life is really chaotic and no one knows about their future for sure and things don't always go as planned. A lot of things are random and unexpected and dealing with it is
