Question -- what is his bodytype? Has he ever had a 30 inch waist? Is he carrying a lot of bodyfat? Does he train and eat properly?

Keep in mind that not everyone can have a 30 inch waist. While you can certainly lean down and get your waist at its smallest, eventually bodytype and bone structure play a role.

Cardio, jog, run, hi rep low weight workouts, Skip rope, swim. Anything that gets you sweating 7 days a week for 30 to 60 minutes...(and 1200 calories a day).

ride a bike, walk, jog

And eat healthy, don't diet. Diets are bad because they rarely work for the majority. If you eat healthy and still have some 'bad' food then it's okay.

Also, tell the person to start doing things that cause sweating like playing football, basketball, soccer, and even swimming.

Jogging is the fastest way to lose weight. And, it really firms up the abs big time as well. And, cut out the alcohol and the processed carbs. Go for lean protean and lots of green vegies and fruit.

Aside from a healthy (not fad) diet, your friend should do major cardio exercise. Tell him no to do a lot of heavy weight lifting because then it will add to his weight. If he cannot do vigorous cardio then just walking is good too. He can walk for 30mins.-1 hr every day. I am also talking from personal experience. Hope I helped a little.
