'Women' or 'ladies' would probably be preferred terms, but I don't think there's anything wrong with 'females.' Whatever you use, just make sure you're using the parallel term to refer to the men/gentlemen/males.
If you were talking about 'males and females,' I wouldn't have a problem with anything. However, if you were talking about 'men and females,' I might have taken issue with the term or seen is as demeaning.

I had to think of roughly this one slightly. this is a few thing i do no longer think of roughly lots. i understand i do in contrast to being stated as Mam, woman, woman, gal, woman. regularly i'm stated as mom or Grandma, sometimes Brookes Grandma do no longer recommendations any of those names. while i'm speaking approximately my acquaintances regularly all women may well be stated as my female pal, or purely pal, gay men are stated as considered one of my gay guy acquaintances because of the fact they are in a separate team socially and that they seem to like it, male acquaintances back stated as in basic terms a chum, if any teasing starts off then i might say he's a platonic pal, never been a boyfriend. My daughter and that i sometimes have females night out, those females a while are everywhere from 25 to sixty 5 or greater, nonetheless this is often females night out, it purely fits the area. It comes right down to how the information is asserted, ironically, derisively, or with anger then i might probable tell them to cut back the crap and take a hike. in the event that they say my call Dede .with any of those tones my reaction may well be an identical. i assume it rather is the reason, tone, and expression on their face that tells me when I could be indignant.

Your not a jerk. Calling a guy a male is not disrespectful, why should calling a girl a female be? Unless she is inferring something about the word female, but that is her own fault, not yours.

Being a female myself i feel there is nothing wrong at all with being called a female....I do not feel it is disrespectful
It is so much better than being called ''chick'' ''bird'' '''sheila''...and of course the classic one - b*cth!!!
There are so many disrespectful terms for women that I do not believe that female is really one of them....maybe she wanted to be called a lady!.....We like that one best ( Well most of us do!!! )

I think calling them girls is more disrespectful than calling them females. I don't think you were being a jerk, but if it bothers them, obviously, you shouldn't call them that again. Take care.

It's disrespectful to call women babe or honey. Not disrespectful to say female. Just my opinion. She's just uptight.

Totally over reacting!
Just another sad example of how far the "pc" movement has taken us.

Who cares what she thinks. She is just trying to chime in with her feminism. It's the military after all-male dominated. I think she just wants to make a scene! What a loser!
