Just want to gather some research information on the topic of Casting of Lots. So wondering if anyone has any good credible resources they could suggest checking out on this topic. I would like something that is just stating facts, rather then try to be religious. So far from my research, I can guess that it's a form of lottery/divination to learn God's will.

I'm also curious on what was used to Cast Lots (paper? clay? stone? sticks? coin?)

So far all I have is information from the bible.
Jonah 1:7 is one example I have:
"And they said to one another, "Come, let us cast lots, that we may know on whose account this evil has come upon us." So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah."

What dus the following mean?

1. identify the relevant jurisdiction and so the relevant law. what is jurisdiction/relevant law? Can anyone give me eg. if lets say im dealing with software licensing infringement.

I was raised to go to church every Sunday, and be a good Christian. But something happened a few years ago to change all of that.

My parents have always been very abusive, mentaly and physically. Which doesnt make sense, because they were supposedly very religious, right? I know, I agree. Anyway, one night (I was 19) my dad really beat me badly, and I ran away from home. But that wasnt even the worst part.

My father was arrested becase I was so badly battered. Between then and the day he went to trial, my entire extended family dissowned me. NO ONE would talk to me or see me. Why, you ask? They said it was becasue I had sinned by having him arrested. But the thing is, I had NOTHING to do with that. Its mandatory that the cops arrested him, becasue there was physical evidence on me. And even if I HAD turned him in, he deserved it!!

My fiancee and i were both virgins when we started dating. Am I the only one tired of reading stupid posts from modern day hippies, college students that want to fight authority, or just ignorant people.

Am I the only one tired of reading the stupid comments about Bush being compared to Hitler, Blackwater being called mercenaries, people not understanding why 6 kids are in jail for severely beating another kid, anti government rhetoric, police hating, and other ignorant posts?

These people need to educate themselves, grow up, gain some life experience, and think critically of things they read, and put down the pot.

Don't get me wrong, I support freedom of speech, I helped defend it. Everyone with a head on their shoulders sound off!

Hello all. I don't really have a question, I would just like some opinions here. I came across a website:

And I find this concept quite intriguing. I was thinking about doing something like this...I don't mean it in a way like "I want to trash my dress!" but just the high fashion aspect to it is fantastic. I don't want to throw paint on it or set it on fire or anything crazy like that, but just pictures in not-so-traditional locations. I'm sure my dress will get a little banged up, but I'm not paying that much for it ($300) and I think the outcome will be sooo worth it. What's your opinions on "trash the dress"?

I paid for an item on eBay this past sunday. The seller mailed it on Tuesday and notified me and gave me the tracking number. I tracked it on usps.com and this is what it said:

Label/Receipt Number: 0414 2976 9550 0104 4289
Status: Acceptance

The U.S. Postal Service has received electronic notification from our Automated Postal Center (APC) in SACRAMENTO, CA 95825 on September 18, 2007 to expect your shipment for mailing.

What does this mean? Does it mean she never really sent it? I know the tracking system is a little behind but I've never gotten this notice before. When should I be expecting it if she did send it via Parcel Post? I live in Colorado Springs and the package came from Sacramento.

I am looking to buy a home in the SF Bay area peninsula, and see some promising places in Redwood Shores. Broad overviews of the pros and cons of the city would be much appreciated.

From what I understand from my limited research, it seems to be a southern version of Foster City. I'd especially appreciate thoughts on neighborhood atmosphere, safety, earthquake safety (engineered landfill?), and the like.

Here's the problem. I bought my wedding gown in a different town then where I live/am getting married. I will bring it home the week before the wedding and take it to a store here that will press/steam it for me. I called them about the wax and the gal said she'd heard of it but they didnt have anything they use. My question is, since my dress has beading around the top (its strapless) and it will rub my underarm area and make it raw, is there really a wax or something that I can rub on the beads to make them slicker and help out? If there IS something I can do, where do I find it to buy it since the bridal store doesn't have anything? Help!! I don't want to have red arms on my wedding day! Thanks!
