When will people of color be accepted for who they are instead of who they know or what sport they can dominate, "Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, The Williams sisters." Why do white people still feel threatened and feel they have to make harsh moves to save their race. Whites are the minority in America if you didnt know. Im not hispanic, but go Hispanics!!

Racism will only end, when man feels he no longer needs to compete with his fellow man. When that happens, it will be the end of humans in general, because we will have lost our survival instinct. It isn't because of whites in American, but because of human nature in general that racism continues. It is common to find these feelings among members of any race. We instinctively view others who are different from us as a threat and/or danger to our ability to survive. This is the truth of it and why we still classify people according to race, today. What purpose does it serve other than to point out differences between people? If we are all human, shouldn't that be all that matters? It should be, but it goes to show that it isn't. You can lie to yourself and everyone else when you try to deny these feelings, but we all have them deep down. We cannot help it, they are instinctual. Intelligence and education can help us to overcome their grip on us, but that isn't the same as eradicating the feeling completely.

The problem is not just with white America. Black America and Hispanic America are just as bad. I am not a racist person but I have had to endure some pretty ugly racist remarks and threats just for the simple reason that I'm white. That folks, is RACISM. Nobody in this country has RIGHT to be racist.

Racism will never end I fear, because not only were the blacks, hispanics, and non-white Americans persecuted in the 60's and prevoius (and still today), but now you see reverse racism. Where, because I look white (I'm half white) I can't say anything derragatory because it makes me a racist (even by this answer people will call me a racist), but, those of ethnicity can call me names, amongst other things and it's not considered racism??? I'm sorry, but they fought so hard for equal rights, therefore EVERYONE gets equal rights, whites included!!! If they want to be treated fairly, treat others as they would be treated!!

Hopefully mankind will reach a time when he will be more enlightened and today I feel it is a few hold outs who are racist and when they die out hopefully it will be over.
Most of the ones on here are 13 year old boys reaching puberty and want to sound cool. It gets them a lot of attention.
Bad attention is better than no attention at all.
Most people know that skin color has nothing to do with a persons skills, knowledge or popularity. Who could be more loved than Oprey Winfrey.
Let's face it Tiger Woods, is the best of all athlets. That man is unstopable. Look at his following?
I can guarantee you that in the future this time period will be looked at and people will shake thier heads and say, "how could they be so stupid?"
This is as shakespear said, they are players on a stage and away they go.
Feel sorry for them because God says that he who cannot love his brother he can see cannot be loving God who he cannot see. They are lost souls who will never see God's kingdom. So they will have their reward in full.

I will not say that there isn't racism. What I will say is there is a broad misunderstanding in America and the country of who we are. When we stand up against the legal system when they are wrong (Jena 6) and for equal rights we are seen as violent and harsh.

I think that there is blame on both sides, lots of blacks (I am -so I can speak on this) instead of reinforcing knowledge on their children say learn a "trade." Like basketball, etc so that we can get ahead.

Martin Luther King once said, "The human progress never rolls on wheels of inevitability. It comes through the tireless efforts and the persistent work of dedicated individuals." So we must stop placing the blame on each other and work on creating harmony.

** I wish ;-)

I think as long as people throw about vast generalizations like this, perpetuate stereotypes like this, then yes it will continue.

Because of the millions of white folks in america, there is no way you know them all well enough to know what their opinions and feelings are- you just stick with attributing the outre behaviors and attitudes of a few to all of us, while at the same time insisting that you don't get painted with the same broad brush you just used on us.

Think about it - you can't have it both ways.

Try going out and meeting people, accepting them for who they are, rather than judging based on the color of their skin, their job or their neighborhood.

BTW? Threatened? By what? Only time I ever felt threatened by anyone is when they were actually phsically proposing violence to my person - in person. And at that point, skin color didn't matter - the gun in the hand of the bank robber mattered. The knife in the hand of the mugger. The percieved violence the guy following me about might perpetrate mattered.

EDIT- Email attacks by the author of the question just prove our points. You suggest we get an education - maybe it might help to understand when you ARE speaking to educated people.

How can you generalize all white people like that? I'm as white as they come, and I also happen to have now and have had black people as friends for most of my life. My brother also married a Mexican years ago and I have very loving and healthy relationships to his wife and their daughters. You sound like the racist one with your statement "Go Hispanics!" There are good Hispanics and there are definitely BAD ones! Just as there are in whites, blacks, asians, and everything in between. I don't judge people by their skin color, but rather by their character, might I suggest you start doing the same? Then maybe your thinking won't come off so narrow-minded.

thats a completely unfair question/statement you are making...if white america is racist...so is black america...and hispanic america....and every other minority...
for every white racist there is a black one too...

who says these people are not accepted for who they are?? they are recognized for their sport like david beckam is known as a famous soccer player, and roger clemmons a great baseball player....you think white people arent just recognized for just the things that they do/dominate??? thats not true...and by you putting race into a SIMPLE concept (recognizing people for what they are famous for) YOU my friend are appearing as a close minded person...
the question here is this, WHEN ARE PEOPLE GOING TO LEAVE RACE OUT OF IT? PERIOD?

pulling the race card is just as bad as being a racist...if you want people to be accepting...then stop bringing race into the mix...
