I'm looking for a high-quality portable digital audio recorder in the $100-500 range. I'd like to be able to hook it up to an external microphone and download the audio directly to a computer as an mp3 or wma file. My primary interest is good sound quality with little background noise. Any suggestions are appreciated.

need advice/ stopping drinking?

i need advice on how to stop drinking. all my friends do it and most saturdays (ok, all) are centred around booze. most friends are supportive and everything but i when i start drinking i cant stop, and i cant help but start.
i keep getting into more and more trouble and i realise it's all my fault, but i cant stop. last saturday i lost my virginity to somebody when i was outdoors and he gave me a fake name. i'd taken about 15 units or something and a few pills. i realise im incredibly stupid and im making myself vulnerable but i dont know what else to do but drink when im depressed.
PLEASE dont give abuse, i know its my fault, i should stop, but i need advice on how to first.
plus i've made a lot of enemies and talked a lot of crap pissed, and most weekends i pass out at least 3 or 4 times, get sick, etc.
my parents arent neglecting or anything i can just hide it quite welll so they havent noticed anything, and i cant tell them, ever.

Legal Q: I was verbally threatened with bodily harm by my boss today at work many times.What can I legally do?

I just started this job a few weeks ago and am very good at what I do. (Sheet metal fabrication) When asking my supervisor a question about a job, he basically went ballistic, getting in my face and telling me over and over that he is going to beat my ***, with multiple witnesses present (at one point, the Human Resources lady even witnessed this in her office). In my opinion, he cracked under production pressure because he has only been a boss for about a month total from what I understand. Regardless, I have a feeling the company is not interested in addressing the issue any further. I, however, am interested. Thanks in advance for your input.

smelly trainers!?

Not wishing to be gross here, but my boyfriend's trainers are a no-go zone despite him being the cleanest person ever, with relatively new trainers (worn maybe 10 times so far), always worn with shoe liners (I don't know the name of the little socky-things that you wear with trainers. Can anyone tell me the name of those too?!) So, what can he do to reduce this problem?!?

So you would feel comfortable having someone on your property that you are almost sure doesn't like you?

I posted a question earlier about my neighbor (also my husbands friend/co-worker). I get the feeling this guy does not like me at all. He is very friendly to my hubby but refuses to speak to me. All the responses so far everyone's saying that I am wrong for not wanting this guy on my property..... So what everyone is saying is that it would not bother them to have someone at their house they know doesn't like them??? You would have a cookout and feel comfortable inviting your nextdoor neighbor who refuses to speak to you?? So if me and my husband are in our yard playing with our kids and this guy comes into my yard with his girlfriend and introduces her to my husband but acts like I am not even there and does not introduce me.... you don't think that is kinda rude? Wow I am really suprised by all the responses and everyone saying that I am over-reacting. I think you people are wrong. I gurantee that if you thought someone didn't like you, you would feel uncomfortable around them!!

Can I have some rebuttals to evolution?

I'm asking for some responses that include some kind of response against evolution. What I'm going to do is take all of these responses and post them in another question with rebuttals so any and all questions regarding evolution are answered.

I hope that everyone posting will take this seriously and

a) be civil

b) provide good responses that don't quote the bible, and use real-world evidence or reasoning
