Someone just posed a question to the atheists, asking what keeps them going if they think there's no afterlife or reward for this life. I'd like to turn the question around and pose it to theists here -- suppose you ARE right, and this life is just "a dream of a dream in the eyes of heaven". Why do you bother sticking around? If you've accepted god and are convinced you're already saved, why not take the most dangerous, life-threatening job you possibly can, and stop wearing your seatbelt, and start chain-smoking, and do all you can to end this pointless life so you can get to be with Jesus that much faster? Why don't you REJOICE when friends and family die, knowing that they're now in heaven with God?
And yes, I know that most religions consider suicide a mortal sin. I'm not suggesting that -- only that, if you're SURE you're saved, why go tiptoeing through life, avoiding risk and hanging on as long as you possibly can, if this life doesn't really matter in the long run?
