I am thinking about starting an environmental club at my school to help with the recycling program I'm also trying to get set up. Other than recycling, what else could we perhaps do? Thanks!

At my HS, we just started one as well. We spent a few meetings watching Al Gore's movie "An inconvenient Truth". One day we took a nature walk around the towns hills/forest paths. Other days were spent outside cleaning up the school's grounds. Also planting flowers & doing the recycling were all part of it.

I like the idea of watching An Inconvenient Truth.

You could launch a 'campaign'.

For example, you could buy cloth bags and sell them for a tiny profit at your local grocery store.

Or you could launch a campaign against bottled water and educate people about bottled water and its harmful environmental effects.

Or you could go the old fashioned way and put up signs around your school.

If you could organize carpooling--that could save oil and reduce pollution.

You might learn to make diesel out of cooking oil.
