If I were to be caught cheating on an exam and then afterwards were to "pummel" the snitch to the ground, incl if it were a professor, could I plead "insanity" in the heat of the moment? What is the normal jail term for pummeling someone to the ground over this? I may consider doing it, as it would be a good rewarding feeling...well worth 2 or 3 weeks in the slammer to see him sucker-punched in the mounth. Is it worth it?

I don't think insanity would get you too far. If you could just say you were insane in the heat of the moment then there would be no one in prison today. For you to prove it was insanity, you would need to prove an actual condition that you have that prevents you from knowing right from wrong. The simple act of asking this question shows that you know it is wrong but you want to know if you can get away with it.

Also, if you were to do it, you will probably not get 2-3 weeks in the slammer. If it is your first offense, you will probably get probation. Also, do not be suprised if you are sued for it and also have a restraining order slapped against you. I have heard of students forced to leave their schools because they had restraining orders preventing them from coming close to someone they had attacked.

I'm usually pacifist when it comes to these types of matters but I can see where you are coming from on this good sir. My advice would be to have solid legal representation with the bail money ready. In some instances assault can bring up to 5 years and a $10,000 fine (maximum in Indiana), that is of course if you get caught. I've said too much as it is already.

I shouldn't answer, since you're only out to get your jollies by the reaction here... but I have my own way of getting my jollies here, soooo, the answer to your question about the penalty is:

Extraordinary rendition to Guantanamo.

If you can get away with 3 weeks max, I would go for it!

Since you are asking here, it would be pre-meditated, not an act of the moment.
