My step son (10yrs) has being with us for almost 2 months after almost 2 yrs of not spending time with us (due to his mom) The problem has being with my 6 & 2 yr old kids he just can;t spend a fun time with them.. He like to spend MOST of the time in his room watching TV or playing Video games he doesn't like to share ANYTHING &if he gets to play with my kids he gets mad for everything or is just bodering them. We went to Sea World this past weenend & he wanted thigs be done his way I personally didn't have fun with a the discussions we had due to his disagreements.. Why is he like that with his brother & sister?.. We can he have quality time with them??? We have got to a point where I have to serve mny kids first dinner then my hubby & I eat dinner with him because even when having dinner he argues for everything!! What to do he will be living in 2 weeks But he will be coming in December & then again in summer vacations (if moms allow him to come) he live 16 hrs away !! What to do??

Anyone work miracles?
She's been here 10 months and most training hasn't clicked for her (basic office /computer /phones) She is mostly reliable on phones and some filing but the rest is a crap shoot. The boss said she can stay so I have to find the silver lining or miracle. Anyone got any tips? Ideas? Has anyone been able to turn a similar situation around? I have tried several different angles, types of training, styles, reference material, etc. but it's barely penetrated. At 10 months here she's somewhere around where I thought she'd be at 3 months. I'm hoping you people can help me out. Thank you!!!

so anyways i'm checking out mp3 players and until yesterday i was set on buying a creative labs Zen V plus 2gb for 80 bucks.. then today i go on google and look up cheap mp3/mp4 players and all this stuff comes up.. i found mp3/mp4 players that r like 4 gigs or 8gigs and they're cheaper than the zen v except i've never heard of any of these companies or makers.. i've one link check it out and is this cheap stuff worth buying r should i just go buy the zen v??

I know we belabor the point here, sometimes...

But, whenever I read people replies from people in the neverending spanking/not spanking debate, it seems like there are some who think the only choices for teaching our children are:

Spanking
Timeouts
Taking away toys/priveleges
1-2-3 Magic

That's it. Just straight pavlovian stimuli/response to train the children what to do and what not to do, until they're grown.

Just wanted to get a list of other parenting methods that people use, to let people know that there are other choices that involve actually teaching your child to make good decisions without the contrived stimuli/response reward/punishment system.

So, what are some of the other alternatives (besides, I guess, totally ignoring & neglecting your kids or abusing them). What are some parenting methods that you've used or seen working in real life, besides the above ones?

If it's legal, I'm interested.

So far I'm looking for:
-video recorders with nightvision set on motion detect
-server set up to save video files
-motion sensor lights
-bamboo grown around the property
-electric fence
-motorized gate (hooked up to electric fence also)
-No trespassing signs.

Feel free to elaborate even on things I've listed and list anything else you think works nice that's legal.

Of course as a last line of defense there's the dog, gun, mace, tazers, etc.. inside. But I'd like to keep people from even getting on my land.

I'm asking this because my doctor said I need to take them. My parents agreed..and well, I'm scared. I'm 13, and i'm not using them for sex or what ever, but i have to use them because of my really long periods. I have to take them for about 3/4 months. So what are the side effects?
