I love Paula's home cookin, and semi homemade with Sandra lee. They both offer a really good variety with simple ingredients.

I could watch the food network 24/7! It has helped me to be a better cook I think.

Alton Brown is very good. He uses science to tell you why things happen the way they happen. Rachael Ray's Thirty Minute Meals is probably the best though. She makes and entire (usually three course) meal in 30 mins (of course, everything is already prepped for her). But usually her dishes are not very complicated and don't call for a lot of ingredients that you can't find or is too expensive. I also love Paula Deen, cause she's a good ole southern girl like me.

I love this channel also! The main ones I watch are ALL of Rachael Ray's shows (she's so awesome!) Along with Everyday Italian, Barefoot Contessa and I think that's it. That's all I really watch. Sometimes Entertainment with Micheal something too. The one that helps me out the most would have to be Rachael Ray.

I have recently seen this channel and now watch it now and then. It's a great channal and I have used many helpful tips and ideas from there. They are all good shows!! That's a difficult question but I like one called Troy something about fish food and other stuff. The other is the Naked Chef- he has a lot of great ideas . I also like Barefoot Contessa and Nigella's Feasts.

I would say Barefoot Contessa and Everyday Italian. Their recipes are generally spot on. They also have a show called How to Boil Water which is a good beginner show.

But really...the only thing that will make you a better cook is cooking. You'll learn as you go! My wife and I are trying to cook 300 new dishes this year (main courses, deserts, apps, etc)

Enjoy!

I don't get the food network channel.
I've been using tv program recipes for years...anything from Julia Chiles (and the French chef she used to have on her program) to the Galloping Gourmet, right now there is an Italian cook, two Chinese cooks, America's Test Kitchen (which I really like), but I think they come in on our public tv station,

Alton Brown's Good Eats gets my vote for the best, although Tyler Florence's How to Boil Water seemed like it would be good for a beginner. I don't know if it still airs. I also like Nigella Feasts.

I imagine Rachael Ray would also be good for a beginner...she just annoys me too much to watch and honestly her recipes aren't that great. Same with Sandra Lee's Semi Homemade though her cocktails are pretty interesting.

I've watched it for years. I've actually made more of Paula's recipes than all the other's put together. I've made a couple each by Alton Brown, Tyler Florence and Bobby Flay. One here and there by some of the others.
I've wanted to try some of Emeil's but they all seem to be so long and drawn out.
Unfortunately I haven't made any of Paula's great recipes lately because I've been eating much healthier.

I like Rachael Ray's show a lot, even though I'm vegetarian and she almost always makes meat-based dishes. The reason I like her is because she explains why she does things in a certain way, such as what veggies to start stir frying first because they take longer to cook through (I admit, I'm pretty ignorant in the kitchen!). So even though I don't use her recipes, I still learn a lot from her!

I think Rachel Ray's 30-Minute Meals is the best because 90 out of 100 times she makes things that a real family would actually eat. And everything is ready in 30 minutes, you don't have to slave over a stove all day long!!!

Yes!
I love Giada's, Michael Chiarrello's, and Mario Batali's food; Alton Brown's advice is very hepful and interesting; and Rachael Ray and Emeril have great personalities. I also love Jacque Torres (chocolate), but he doesn't come on anymore.

And Ina has some good stuff, too.
