You need to find a dog that matches your lifestyle. Are you going to be able to walk them constantly to burn off that extra energy if you get a high energy dog, such as a Jack Russel? What's your budget? Are you going through a shelter? A rescue? Breeder? How often will you be home? Some breeds are more prone separation anxiety more than others. If the dog shedding is your largest concern, you need to do more research, so that you're not surprised at the dog's behavior and end up putting another dog in the shelter.
You just need to find the best breed for you, not just the most attractive.

Why not try looking at any rescue site. There is also Petfinder.org - from here you can go to many rescue sites. They also have all kinds of cute dogs and puppies. I have 2 yorkies and they have hair that needs haircuts and they are also OK if you have allergies. There are so many little ones that need homes - try the rescues first.

I live in an apartment AND I am allergic to dogs, so I went for the Yorkshire Terrier and now I own 2 of them. They are small, don't shed, non-allergenic because they have real HAIR, not fur, and I keep them in the puppy cut for their haircuts every few months, and they are very easy to up-keep. Hope that helps for ya.

You're in the dog section, so you posted in the right area...LOL
I would look at your local shelter, they will help you select the right dog for you. FYI I had a yorkie for 13 years and they dont shed.

Only you can make the final decision. Google "dog breed selectors" and then google the breeds that keep coming up for you. Remember that each dog is different, as well!

I love Boston Terriers. They are smart, loyal, good with kids and people. They do not shed and stay pretty small. Good luck with your search and I hope you choose a good one :-)

I have 2 toy size rat terriers (10lbs) and a mini rat terrier (17lbs). Adorable, short haired and great personalities.
