There have been vegan Olympic gold medalists and vegan mothers that grow healthy human beings inside their bodies that stay vegan their entire life and stay healthy.

Just to clear things up, the vegetarian/vegan diet is not composed of salads, vegetables, fruit and fake meat. Fruits and vegetables are always important but they DO NOT make up the largest portion of any healthy diet.
A balanced plant-based diet includes grains(breads, pasta, rice, cereal), legumes(soy, beans, peas, lentils), fruit and vegetables.

Being vegan can be an art, one whose challenge is to take things that involve the suffering of the innocent and change them into something free of cruelty.
A responsible veggie ALWAYS studies the subject of their own health and how to keep their body completely provided for in every sense. http://www.veganhealth.org/sh
To neglect their body is to define a plant-based diet as unhealthy and is the opposite of helping the animals.
A vegan woman can create an ENTIRELY NEW,HEALTHY HUMAN BEING INSIDE OF HER. Many of these children stay vegan and grow up to be perfectly healthy adults. So just keep yourself educated about what you eat and don't let anyone tell you that a veg diet is lacking anything essential.

I'm vegan and these are some of my favorite things to eat:
Breakfast: bananas, cream of wheat with brown sugar and soy butter, cereal, pancakes or french toast with real maple syrup, vegan "sausage" patties, smoothies.
Lunch: VEGAN "SAUSAGE" SANDWICHES, sandwiches with vegan deli slices(Tofurkey is the only one that's kinda funky), fruit, dinner leftovers, couscous salad, vegan sushi, potato or pasta salad.
Dinner: sloppy joes, "sausage" and gravy with homemade biscuits, Spaghetti and Trader Joe's "meatballs" or TVP, lasagna, Thai pad see ew, pad khi mao(drunkard's noodles), pad prig king, tofu+eggplant with basil sauce, yellow thai curry with tofu or vegan chikn and veggies and jasmine rice, Indian dal with homemade roti or dosai, channa masala, aloo gobi, vegetable or minestrone soup, pizza, STEAMED "PORK" BUNS with potstickers or spring rolls, sweet&sour/orange/lemon chikn, vegan pho or wonton soup

Well, what are you eating? Highly processed foods will make anyone sick. Crackers, cereal, tofu dogs, etc. can all be organic and vegan, but not very good for you.
You just may not be getting enough calories. Carl Lewis, the runner, after becoming vegan, was feeling weak, but he was simply not eating enough for the energy he needed. See, meat eaters often don't eat much because they are backed up and their digestion is very slow and hindered. Processed foods does this too.
I go for as much organic as I can. I try to go for quality.
Stir fry veggies and rice are a staple, but also different kinds of noodles, root veggies, potatoes, ... we have a large garden, basically I just walk out there, choose a bunch of different things, and head back to the kitchen. kale, beans, turnip, radish, carrot, peas, chard, ... there are more things in the garden than I can name or even eat. Those seeds cost next to nothing too. Start a garden is my advice. Retail veggies are expensive and they are not fresh. I got a purple clay pot electric rice cooker (to avoid aluminum) and cook other things in there too like millet (10x better than rice). You can get enough protein from vegetables in the garden; protein is the building block of life -- it's everywhere. Processed food is dead. You need fresh raw or lightly cooked foods. Well, that's all I'll say since I don't know the details of your life.

I think you might be eating too much of the fake, processed meats and not enough whole foods. Try to get some leafy green veggies and other colorful foods into your diet. These contain vital nutrients and can help you absorb the protein you're getting from the burgers and dogs.
By the way, it's probably not protein. It's more likely to be Iron or Calcium. Good luck.

It very might well be something different, maybe not getting enough exercise. I've researched a lot about being a vegetarian and it's basically impossible to become deficient in almost all nutritional areas if you are eating more than one food group. Just make sure you get enough veggies, fruits, grains, legumes, and exercise.

You could need more iron, calcium or Vit. B-12 but you might also have a health problem that is totally unrelated to diet so a visit to your Dr. could be a good idea.

your body cannot process protein without the b vitamins (all of them) they are hard to get through plant products.
Avacado has all of them as do enriched breads.
