So I am going to grad school in september, I have $5600 left to pay on my car and I have over $10K in savings. Grad school is going to cost $2000 a month if my student loan doesn't go through and I was thinking of keeping the savings money just in case. The money saved up is partially what I was saving to pay off the car (interest 8.9%) but now that there's school coming up I just don't want to go broke overnight.
I think I should pay off the car solely based on the fact that if I get a student loan at 7%, I will only have to start paying it off in 2 years whereas the car will be $300 every month whether or not I'm in school or I'm working.
If you were in my shoes, would you pay off the car or continue to make monthly payments instead? It's a depreciating value item so I didn't want to tie money into it, that's why I can't make up my mind.

Thanks.

i parked my car and was away. i received a valid license disk but am out of the country and had no time to get to my car to display this (now my car still has a license disk that expired yesterday).

I will not be driving my car in the meantime but as it is parked should i be worried that i am likely to get a penalty notice for that?

if i get one, what do i do ?, (as i have paid and have my license disk although not displayed)

A woman takes a lover home during the day, while her husband is at work.
Unbeknownst to her, her 9 year old son was hiding in the wardrobe.
Her husband comes home unexpectedly, so she puts the lover in the wardrobe with the little boy.
The little boy says "Dark in here."
The man says "Yes it is."
Boy - "I have a baseball."
Man - "That's nice."
Boy - "Want to buy it?"
Man - "No, thanks."
Boy - "My dad's outside."
Man - "Okay, how much?"
Boy - "£250."
In the next few weeks, it happens again that the boy and the mom's lover are in the wardrobe together.
Boy - "Dark in here."
Man - "Yes, it is."
Boy - "I have a baseball glove."
The lover, remembering the last time, asks the boy, "How much?"
Boy - "£750."
Man - "Fine."
A few days later, the father says to the boy "Grab your glove. Let's go outside and toss the baseball back and forth."
The boy says "I can't. I sold them."
The father asks "How much did you sell them for?"
The son says "£1,000."
The father says "That's terrible to overcharge your friends like that.
That is way more than those two things cost. I'm going to take you to church and make you confess."

They go to church and the father makes the little boy sit in the confession booth and he closes the door.
The boy says "Dark in here."
The priest says "Don't start that s**t again."

First of all i want to keep this friendly!!! No Nastiness now! I know how people can get with questions like this ;)

I really would like to know genuine feelings from American Citizens, the world can have their say too but its a question mainly for the USA.

How do you personally feel about your foreign policy? And how has the stripping of liberties made you feel?

I am going to Las Vegas in August with all my friends and family for a once in a lifetime trip (my wedding). I would love to take great photos, but I'm a little new at it. My camera is a Fuji FinePix S700 and I have a few lenses (uv, polarizing and diffusion). I can get daytime shots without a problem, but the night shots look terrible. I've practiced with all the settings, which are a little confusing, but it doesn't seem right. I know night shots are tricky, not to mention all the lights in the background that will be going on. Does anyone have any advice? I have read the owners manual several times, but I would like to hear from someone with experience in photography.

I asked for intelligent answers to legitimate questions, to both Islamic and Christian fundamentalists, and what did I get? Disrespect and personal attacks. I speak now only to the ones who pose as Christians: of what I know of the teachings of Jesus, you are as Christian as a midsummer mess of day-old alligator poop. I shall trouble you no further, little people.

I'm cutting and pasting a column of football records 12-0, 11-1, 10-2, etc into Microsoft Office Excel to do some calculations on those numbers. Essentially I want to convert them to a precice winning percentage. When I cut and paste them in (there's a lot of them) Excel converts them into dates ... callender dates. How do I get it to not do that?
