i parked my car and was away. i received a valid license disk but am out of the country and had no time to get to my car to display this (now my car still has a license disk that expired yesterday).

I will not be driving my car in the meantime but as it is parked should i be worried that i am likely to get a penalty notice for that?

if i get one, what do i do ?, (as i have paid and have my license disk although not displayed)

If the car is parked on the public roadway, then it will probably be towed or at least ticketed. If it is on private property, then you may well get away with it. If you do get a ticket, then you will have to go to court and explain the situation. I'm sure the judge will let you off. good luck.

It is an offence not to display a valid tax disc when your vehicle is parked on a public road. This applies even if you actually have one. If the vehicle is not taxed than you will be in even deeper doo-doos.

If a traffic warden or policeman issues a ticket then you will have a choice of paying the penalty or arguing your case before a magistrate. If he's unsypathetic then you could end up paying a great deall more. In your situation it looks as though you have a good defence so you'll probably be ok.

Have you got a valid disk?
If you have , the much trumpeted computer system at the dvla will probably work in your favour
