There is a difference in picture quality between 720p & 1080p... But when it comes to gaming it depends... If you will be using the PS3 or the Xbox 360 a 1080p TV is recommended for playing true High Definition gaming... If you will be using the Wii or any older system then 720p is good... Remember to use HDMI or Component cables as your input for High definition viewing.

I accept as true with the "somebody" who informed you approximately 1080p vs 720p. At a classic viewing distance, you will no longer see the adaptation till the television is over 50" (or maybe then it isn't any longer a great difference). Blu-ray is 1080p yet back, you will no longer see a substantive difference except your sitting lots to on the brink of the television. adjustments which would be particularly worth noting is they have a tendency to place the latest electronics interior the 1080p units. For liquid crystal demonstrate, this means greater assessment ratio, swifter refresh and swifter reaction cases. those factors could make an significant difference in image. although, while you're evaluating comparable assessment and reaction cases, the 720p would be high-quality and save you a pair of greenbacks. there are a number of 720p plasma units with spectacular assessment ratios at 720p. in the adventure that your thinking a plasma, i could pass with a panasonic or Pioneer at 720p. they're all switching over to 1080p however the leftover 720p units are on sale in all places and are large deals.

yes it makes a big gap between 720 and 1080.

if you're going to play a wii, stick with 720p because wii only the has a ability to produce 420p images.

if you have a 360 or a ps 3, well, get a 1080p for sure.
