It has been demonstrated time and time again that we, as humans, are drawn to tragedy. The longevity of Shakespeare is a great example of this.

Every night on the news, tragedy sells over good news. There is hardly room for any uplifting or inspirational stories.

We watch the public meltdowns of celebrities with significantly more interest than we pay to their careers.

Even movies like 'Titanic', in which pretty much everyone knew the tragic ending before they bought their ticket, became one of the most successful movies of all time. During it's theatrical run, many people paid to see the movie over and over again.

Bottom line : we love tragedy.

One could argue that the Bible is the original tragedy. If the Bible had presented a happier ending, would it have become as significant piece of writing as it has?

I have a young son, as you can see in my pic, and I love him very much. Some nights when I go to bed images of his death (always different) come to my mind and I go through all the emotions of his death. He is just fine though snoring in his bed next to me. When I wake up, I hear on the news that a local boy had died that night. My son is almost three and it happens at least once a month, and it never fails that it is also a night when a local boy dies. I know that my son is safe but why the coincidence? I have predicted things before but why would it be like this?

Any ideas?

Hi I have a 3 month old Bichon Frise cross puppy. This may seem like an odd question but I can't see his testicles, unless they are realy well hidden in his fur, when should they descend? also he does seem to be tender around that region, squelas if I try to look there, and sometimes yelps when rubbing his bottom on the ground. Any ideas?

I read someone's answer to an earlier question about evolution and this person honestly seemed to believe that there were no Transitional Fossils. Is that right? Are there really people this willfully ignorant in the world?
I mean the evidence is irrefutable. There are literally THOUSANDS of transitional fossils. Here is just a small example;
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/faq-transitional.html
Now this is highly condensed and the author has tried to simplify it to the point that someone with an average education can understand it.
Here is another one but this one is highly technical;
http://www.asa3.org/asa/resources/Miller.html

So you see that not only are there literally thousands of transitional fossils, they each give us a great deal of information about the fossil record and the lines of descent they took part in.
Anyone who denies the existence of transitionals is either; willfully ignorant, or brainwashed to the extreme.
Either way, they have my pity.

Yes, I know its my favourite complaint....and so shall I further complain.

But how many of you actually "thumb" people fairly? Take an idiot like Ayiza, he talks kak most of the time, but makes good statements sometimes (but he'll get a thumbs down even if the statement did not deserve such), even a person like Sweet Angel who hardly ever miffs/pisses off anyone, gets thumbs down unneccesarily.... Are people getting a bit too thumb happy? Are we meant to now fall into the norms of RSA?

I mean I'd understand a thumbs down if I wrote "ET is the saviour of all and we have to worship him" not if I wrote "I prefer soccer to rugby!".... (I am aware outsiders also tend to stick in their noses/ or thumbs uneduvatedly)

Some people need a bit of growing up... really.

Deport all illegal immigrants immediately including any offspring that they conceived while here illegally. If one parent was a legal citizen then they may appeal the deportation of the child if they can prove a means of support. Close all borders......then allow entry only to those sponsored by a US citizen that can prove that they will have employment and a place to stay with total support none of which will be taxpayer funded. All admitted would additionally have to pass all exams and screenings. For those that had been here without paying taxes a requirement to pay in full the amount owed within a certain time frame with no unreasonable penalties. If the deportees had established ownership of a business illegally during their "visit" then that business would be placed in the hands of a mediator whom could either sell it to pay debts owed or negotiate a means of operating it as an absentee owner until re-entry has been approved.

My Grandparents were immigrants....they came here legally by sponsorship of my Grandfathers oldest brother, They lived with him and his family until they established themselves and found their own home were gainfully employed, he was a glass blower and she was a seamstress, paid taxes, supported themselves and family completely without any social programs, lived by the law of the land and helped to bring other relatives over as they could. This is how America was built and it is the way it should remain! All this was done in accordance with the laws with proper documentation, communications and applications to the U.S. authorities. We are now working on five generations inclusive of Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants, Teachers, Business Owners and Students.

My fiancée and I are getting married in September. I have a very large family, and we are trying to keep the guest count to 150 people. We like children, but can not see paying $25 per plate of food that the children are going to have three bites off of. Our thought is on the wedding reception invitation it will read "Adult Dinner and Reception, following the Ceremony at the Elm Creek Park Chalet". My mother thinks this is offensive to those who have children, we do not. We are trying to ask in the nicest way possible to leave children at home, because we can not afford to have that many people at the wedding. Not all children will be excluded, a few will be there, and we are just trying to keep the number down. The adults can choose do ignore the word adult on the RSVP as long as we get an accurate count. Any advice you could give us that is constructive and may help this situation is much appreciated.

Not just any blood. I mean, I'm fine if i'm looking/feeling/TASTING blood from say, a leg or an arm.

The only place I can not BEAR to even see blood come from is "down below".

Once I saw it and I fainted.
The next time I vomitted.
The next time i did both.

Help me ! I don't have my period or anything (yet), but I'm 12, with all of the symptoms, meaning I will soon.

How do I get over my fear ?
It makes me vomit and faint !
I'm not scared of it ...
More like, freaked out !

Help !
(I feel like i'm going to vomit right now)
