Hello All,
So, have many of the wedding reception traditions become tacky? For example:
What do you think about the "Cake Smash" that some brides and grooms now seem to think is funny? Is this funny, or offensive?
How about the groom's removal of the garter from the bride's leg? Is this funny, or embarrassing? Then, sometimes, the flower toss winner and the garter toss winner are supposed to get together and the garter toss winner puts the garter on the bouquet toss winner's leg....is this just putting people on the spot?
What about the Dollar Dance? The majority of people on Answers think this is tacky, but it seems to happen at most weddings. Why does this continue?
Do you really recommend "raffling" off and giving away the centerpieces? Do your guests really want to take the centerpieces home??
Lots of questions, I know...but I'm trying to determine which "traditions" to eliminate....

that God exists, then why are believers so keen on converting others! there is absolutely no proof of any of it!
and is there a created religion because you are afarid to lose that little spark of that theory???
it is very unsettling to me that you feel the need to instill pain, fear and suffering unto others just to make them believe in a theory!
I would understand the need to educate how to properly cross a road so you don't get killed ! but to convert someone just on the basis of a big fat MAYBE that isn't right!
what motivates you to try and swing another person towards your believes and your God????
what are you trying to improve in another person, if they are a good person to begin with????

certainly you can't say that pride is always a bad thing. is it wrong to be proud of your children or anything else you love? of course there is a certain level with being proud of one's self too much to the point of vanity. so why do you suppose the bible doesn't list vanity as being a deadly sin and not pride? there's nothing wrong with a little pride, is there?

A young Irish girl learned last month that her fetus has a condition in which a major part of the brain is missing. The fetus is projected to die within 3 days of being born. Abortion is illegal in Ireland, except when the mother is threatened by a medical condition or a suicide risk. The anti-choice movement either wants to outlaw abortion totally in the US, or only allow it in the case of rape or incest, or only allow it if the mother's life is in danger. Bit by bit medical procedures are being outlawed in the US courts as well as state legislatures. Many health clinics have been closed due to violence.
Will we become a nation again where only the wealthy can afford abortions, out of the country?

Praise the Lord that Lina Joy has found Christ. It was a wondrous day when that happened and her eternal salvation is ensured. But the earthly entity that governs Malaysia has determined that from a legal standpoint, she is and will always be Islamic unless she is officially declared an apostate (which isn't a good thing in an Islamic society).
I notice that a number of organizations and countries have protested the Lina Joy ruling and I wonder why any other country should have a say in how Malaysia makes these determinations. I know as a right thinking American, I'd feel pretty upset if some other country tried to tell us how we had to do something.
If it is right that other countries can tell Malaysia how to identify its people as far as religion is concerned, then would we have the right to enforce Lina Joy's rights via military intervention and economic sanctions?

By now the majority of Americans have figured out that the whole Iraq thing is a fiasco, and wish to be through with it. One thing keeping us there is fear that once we leave, the whole place will turn to chaos and more killing. But why should we care?
The Shiites and the Sunnis WANT to have it out. I say, LET THEM! Why should we put ourselves in the middle of it? The Iraqi people are not worth a single drop of American blood.
Worst case analysis: Shiites kill Sunnis, Sunnis kill Shiites. BOTH hate us, so wouldn't we be better off with fewer of them, if they killed each other and not us?
Better case analysis: Once we leave, there'll be no reason for a nationalist insurgency, so the violence will DECREASE. They could step back from sectarian civil war and come to some sort of modus vivendi, without either one being accused of being a US puppet or sellout.
But to quote the Moody Blues (1965)|: "Go Now!"

I am going to be purchasing a doberman puppy this summer, and i have not decided whether i want a male of a female dog. Well if i forced you to shoot someone in the face, if i forced you to physically and there was no possiblity of not doing it, should you be punished or held responsible for it, NO! So people who may be hindu intend to love god and believe they have seeked him, they have fully intended to accept god, yet apparently they go to hell for "rejecting" jesus which they obviously did not intend to do, so for the bad they happened to commit out of intending good, are they let to suffer in hell by a "loving" god? No! You lot know nothing about anything, life after death is far more complicated than morales, right, wrong, bible promises and the idea of pain. We know nothing, when we die, it's not like a hall where people wait to be judged, there are no "rights" or "wrongs" or morals.

I have defeated the Pokemon Champion, seen all 150 Pokemon on the Sinnoh Pokedex, got the National Pokedex and Pokeradar, and I cannot find Growlithe, Nidoran(m), or Nidoran(f) on Route 201 or Route 202! I have my Pokemon Firered game inserted in the Gameboy Advance Slot of my Nintendo DS and I have used the Pokeradar like crazy in this area. Also, I haven't recieved a Crown for my Accessories Case from the girl on the 2nd floor of Pal Park and I can't transfer my Pokemon from Firered to Pokemon Pearl! Any suggustions? I am getting tired of constantly looking for those Pokemon.

I will be working at Ontario Airport and going to school at Concord in Los Angeles.....they are about 45 miles away from eachother!!! i am trying to find cities between these two cities, so my work and school will be about 30 minutes from each!!!! i am moving to CA from MO so i don't know much about CA! I have a Chihuahua/Miniature Pincher with my fiancee. Last night he had eaten something before I could tell him to drop it when we were talking and he swallowed it. The rest of the night went as usual, except he kept getting in and out of bed, waking me up. Then, this morning I awake to find SEVERAL hardened, post-liquidy poop stains in our living room. I am not sure how to get the stains off the carpeting without ripping the carpet itself up. What can I do to get it up and out of my carpeting, preferably without having to use some industrial cleaners?
