If you find an apartment between LA and Ontario, you will not be a 30 minute drive in either direction. More like one hour in traffic.
Upland, Claremont, La Verne are next door to Ontario, and Chino is actually south of Ontario.
Look in Covina, Azusa, Monrovia, Arcadia, Rosemead, Temple City and Duarte. Glendora and San Dimas are a bit closer to Ontario but should still do the job.

The 10 and 60 freeways are the 2 major arteries between Ontario and LA.Depending where you are working in Ontario, if off the 60 then look near La Puente, Industry, Whittier or Montebello, If off the 10 then maybe San Gabriel, Rosemead, Baldwin Park or West Covina.
As far as finding an apartment look at either www.apartments.com or even the local paper real estate listings at www.latimes.com.

It would make more sense to live in one or the other, rather than in between. Traffic FROM LA to Ontario is better than Ontario to LA, but the cost of living on Ontario is much less than LA.
The metrolink goes from Los Angeles to Ontario. It also has many stops in cities in between like Alhambra, El Monte, Covina, Claremont.
Gas is about $3.25 a gallon here, so you will want to drive around as little as possible.

I know where these two places are, I work in city of La, Ontario airport however is more than a 30 minute drive when you factor in traffic, we have some of the worst traffic in the country, that drive at about 3 pm. on a weekday is more like 1.5 hours, as for a place somewhere in the middle to stay...cities betweeen the two are Chino, Laverne, Upland, Claremont, Covina, W. Covina, Baldwin Park, Alhambra..etc., any questions feel free to catch me on messenger, I will help you out as much as possible.

Ontario is full-on ghetto. Trust me, you don't want to live there.
