Does preaching in the Catholic sense include discussing moral issues? When does this become preaching? Are these things left only to preists and deacons?

Can anyone give me a Catechism reference?

Thank You

One would assume if God were to dictate a book that He would make it interesting, yet why can't I never finish either of the books. Does it mean God Himself is Boring?

My son will be 4 in July. He is well mannered and says his please's and thank you's and all that... but what gets to me is the lack of listening. He is constantly throwing stuff at my hubby or myself and saying very hatefully "take that!" I guess he must have got it from nursery school as we have never said that to him. So we tell him not to do this and put him on the naughty step for 4 minutes. We dont' talk to him while he is on the step and then he has to apologize when time is over. The problem is ... he goes right back to doing it. He can sit on the step all day for all he cares. As long as he can throw something at us. Or he will come and jump on your foot, or bit you in the behind, or head butt your back while you're walking. He laughs when he does these things. But time out's don't phase him, spanking doesn't phase him, taking toys away does nothing. I have tried ignoring bad behavior and praising and rewarding good behavior but he'll just revert back. I am in tears

well, my son told me of an attack he once witnessed. the attacker came full force with a blunt object, with the intent on hurting and robbing his victim. though caught by surprise, the victim was able to disarm the attacker, without hurting him or himself effortlessly, even after the attackers second attempt, though empty handed, finally ran off in confusion. when my son asked what was that he was doing, the reply was-taichi.he was amazed and so was i,thus my curiosity

I have seen several posts on here over the months about smokers, homosexuality, gossips, ect... just about every sin has had a question raised.

I believe that when we judge as Christians esp. we are actually not having faith that God cannot work in someone's life. When we say this person or that person can't be saved, or is sinning, isn't that the very essense of not having faith in the power of the cross?

Just my thoughts today...what do you think?

Divine Right of Kings
The Divine Right of Kings is a European political and religious doctrine of political absolutism. Such doctrines are largely, though not exclusively, associated with the medieval and ancien régime eras. It states that a monarch owes his rule to the will of God, not to the will of his subjects, parliament, the aristocracy or any other competing authority. This doctrine continued with the claim that any attempt to depose a monarch or to restrict his powers ran contrary to the will of God.

Its symbolism remains in the coronations of the British monarchs, in which they are anointed with Holy oils by the Archbishop of Canterbury, thereby ordaining them to monarchy. It is further evidenced by efforts to trace the genealogy of European monarchs to King David of the Old Testament, in the apparent belief that it legitimizes the rule of the present monarch. The king or queen of the United Kingdom is the last monarch still to undergo such a ceremony, which in other countries has been replaced by an inauguration or other declaration. It is the reason why the British Royal Family's motto is Dieu Et Mon Droit (God and my [birth] Right - i.e. I rule with God's blessing).

It may also include a belief in the right of the monarch to rule due to direct decendency from God, usually tracing genealogy back to a divine being, such as Jesus of Nazareth; hence being the person most likely to be able to correctly acertain the will of God.

The concept
The concept of Divine Right incorporates the broader concept of "royal God-given rights", which simply says that "the right to rule is anointed by God (or gods)" which is found in other cultures. This concept was also found in the Aryan (White Race) and Egyptian traditions. Thomas Aquinas accepted the overthrow of a king and even regicide when the laws of the king are untenably unjust, and towards the end of the Middle Ages many philosophers such as Nicholas of Cusa and Francisco Suarez propounded similar theories. In addition, the concept of Mandate of Heaven required that the emperor properly carry out the proper rituals, consult his ministers, and made it extremely difficult to undo any acts carried out by an ancestor.

Much of the Scriptural basis of the Divine Right of Kings comes from Romans 13:1-2, which state: "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation." A surface interpretation of these verses appear that since a king is put in power by God, every order given by the king must be obeyed, so as to not disobey God.

my girl of 10 years has started to act all different. we have 2 kids and live together, she works 3 nights a week in a night club and i work 5 days a week and am therefore always tired and sleep from about 9. lately shes been going out every sunday night (the only night we have together) with her workmates, which i dont mind but she never asks me to join her and only tells me just before she gos out (cant arrange a babysitter on short notice). The other night we went out to her work and she was not herself before we got there and as soon as we did she wouldnt show any affection to me. Also she deletes all text messages she gets excepts the ones from me. I did trust her but have lost all trust in her lately and when i speak to her about it she says im being stupid and thats the end of that. The worst bit is Im not allowed to go out without her and she doesnt speak to her workmates (on the phone or on myspace) when im around. im i being paraniod what would you do bear in mind the kids.
