I would say both if you can afford it...

I think you really should be asking her which she likes more. It also depends on the age of the child. Sometimes we as adults need to make the decision for a child if they are young based upon what will teach them the most i.e eye hand coordination, cognitive skills etc. Both of the activities you want to accomplish with her are great to teach a child.... ask he which is her favorite and do one this year/season and one next year/season.

I would say ballet class sounds good. I won't take my five year old on a horse just yet...Maybe ballet-cheerleading, dance classes, something she could have more control of.

I think u should take her to ballet class becuse its less dangerous her feet just might be tore up but if she goes horse back riding something might go wrong, and shes flipped off the horse and trampled.

I am partial to horseback riding...as I grew up with horses, but give her the opportunity to try both...and let her decide if she like either one or both! She just might surprise you!

What does she show interest in? You can ask her she will have some sort of an opinion. Kudos to you for spending time with today's children and tomorrows future. You can make a difference by spending time with them.

It is great that you are eager to do this for her. I think it should be one or the other because both might be to overwhelming for a 5 year old.

Depends on what she likes to do.
Ballet is great for teaching determination, self-dicsipline and grace.
Horseback riding is good for teaching responsability, love of animals and competition (if she would compete)
So, both would be good (and expensive!) but you may ask her which she would prefer?
