I have seen several posts on here over the months about smokers, homosexuality, gossips, ect... just about every sin has had a question raised.

I believe that when we judge as Christians esp. we are actually not having faith that God cannot work in someone's life. When we say this person or that person can't be saved, or is sinning, isn't that the very essense of not having faith in the power of the cross?

Just my thoughts today...what do you think?

I think it depends on what we judge. Seems to me the bible says something about us doing some judging but to try to figure out the gray area is trickie. Its easy for us to judge when its black or white but when it turns gray it should be the lords and not ours.
Ta too's are gray
adultry pretty black
white, well.....you call that one

You can defend them all you like both are filth and both are unhealthy deviant acts. I don't care if homosexuals are allowed to go to church or smokers either as far as that goes. Smoking is a filthy habit it is unhealthy both to the user and people who have to smell him, her or it. As such it is a sin according to your Bible. I'm not a Christian and I could care less if it is a sin. It is filth and dangerous is my only concern. It should be banned.

The final judgement is up to God but it is important that we have judgement here on earth as well. Without judgement, Mother Theresa and Hitler are exactly the same. It is our duty to point out evil and subdue it, then leave it to God to judge.

To “…believe that when we judge as Christian’s esp. we are actually not having faith that God cannot work in someone's life. When we say this person or that person can't be saved, or is sinning, isn't that the very essence of not having faith in the power of the cross?”

No it is not and that view is unbiblical. For example:

Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour. Lev 19:15 (KJV)

If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them. 1 Sam 2:25 (KJV)

Those are just two verses that speak of judging:

Non-Christians always quote the following verse

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. Matt 7:1 (KJV)

Sometimes adding these:
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. Matt 7:2-5 (KJV)

The problem is that they use these verses out of context. What that means is they use the words to support their ideology without reference to why the words were spoken by Christ.

Christ was chastising the Pharisees for their hypocrisy. Further we must not judge rashly, nor pass judgment upon our brother without any grounds. It does not say not to judge.

How can we not judge? If we are to preach the Gospel to the world how do we know who to preach to? We need not preach it to those who are saved but to the lost. We must judge to know who is lost or in the case of a brother who is backsliding?

11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 1 Cor 5:11 (KJV)

There is no deity of God. God is just a superstition.

The only judgement is by people. Work on your own character and those around you will be more likely to treat you with respect.

There is always hope of conversion for everyone, but we have to judge right from wrong! Perhaps we make our mistakes when we judge the person him or herself, rather than saying that their actions/what they are doing is wrong!
