Here's the scoop: I moved cross country to New York City a couple of months ago without a job lined up. I moved primarily to advance my career in the retail industry. After 2 months of living in this expensive city without a job, I was relieved to get my first offer yesterday for an Associate Merchandise Planner position. Though relieved, I didn't feel too excited. The salary offered was about $5k less than I had hoped, but about $5k more than I was making in my last job in CA. However, I do not have experience in this particular job. My last job was related but not very closely.

It would definitely be a great start, but I don't feel like I'd be totally content with the pay, especially with the cost of living here. It's on the low end for the salary range on salary.com for NYC. I am new to this salary negotiation stuff and would greatly appreciate some good advice. Thanks so much!

CHICAGO (AP) -- It will probably be quite a while before Bubba Ludwig gets to use his Firearm Owner's Identification Card.

Bubba is just ten months old, but has been issued the official State of Illinois gun ID. The application was filled out by his father, newspaper columnist Howard Ludwig. The ID card arrived, complete with Bubba's toothless baby picture. Ludwig says he never thought the gun permit would be approved.

The ID card program is administered by Illinois State Police. A spokesman for the department says there are no restrictions under the law regarding the age of applicants. But long gun-buyers must be at least 18 in Illinois, 21 for handguns.

My husband has told me he needs a new wallet. I want to get him a really nice one for Father's Day, but I just don't know where to start. What do you recommend? Something durable, and classy. My father was baptist and my mother catholic. Both my parents decided to allow my brothers and I to explore and discover our own spirituality and adopt whatever religon we wished. I and my brothers I suppose are agnostics. I am happy that they did this for our family, what about yours? Would this work, do you think it would be better or do you wish this had happend to you?
