I have 3 dogs, all of whom need to go to new homes as I'm now separated and cannot give them the attention they all need. The older dog has been on her own before, and isn't the issue of this question. The 2 younger dogs (both aged 4 years) have lived together since they were pups; though not littermates. They even sleep together in the same kennel. I've found an interested owner for one of them who can provide a fantastic life for him, but cannot take both dogs. I feel very guilty about separating them, but at the same time I can't provide the exercise and loving socialized environment they need. They end up kenneled much of the time, which clearly isn't fair. Should I go ahead with the new home for one dog which will separate lifelong companions or keep looking for a home that can keep them both? It'll be easier to find a good home for the second dog as well on her own rather than finding someone who will keep both. What do you think?
