We’ve been dating about 1.5 years, I've just graduated college. Don’t get me wrong: things are really good. Our relationship is bizarrely healthy. I’ve been a cat person my entire life.
He asked me who I love more; I said “I love you equally.” Y’know, kitty gets my maternal affection, boyfriend gets romantic affection.
He thinks it’s weird that I wouldn’t immediately list him as “winning.” But man, my cat frickin' rocks. This isn’t a matter of hypothetically giving one up, saving one from a fire or whatever (human wins the fire scenario). He just thinks it’s a little weird that it took me so long to come to the conclusion that I love him more, and was a little insulted that I initially said I loved them equally.
He thinks most people would quickly decide that they love their human significant others more than their animal companions, and that my response was “weird.”
Who do you love more?
