It was assumed that Budweiser would stay with DEI, but the more you look at it, the more this may not happen. Budweiser may not can go to RCR, because of the Jack Daniels sponsorship. It cannot go to Penske for the same reason.. Miller Lite. Joe Gibbs is a Christian and wants to stay away from alcoholic sponsors. Rick Hendrick would take Budweiser, but Hendricks teams are full.
So the only place Dale can go with Budweiser is Ginn or Haas.
Unless Jack Daniels and Budweiser work something out. So it may be that Bud goes somewhere else as a Primary sponsor.
The #8 stays with DEI.

Quoted from Speed Channel Wind Tunnel
Despain: Is it any of our business what DEI’s contractual situation is with Budweiser? There seems to be this widespread assumption that Junior takes the sponsorship with him … that that’s a done deal. Is it?
Siegel: Well, no. We’ve both reached out to all our commercial partners and over the next few weeks, we’re going to talk with each and every one of them about what the best course of action is for the sponsor, DEI and Dale Jr. as well.
Despain: The number is also a much-discussed issue. The No. 8 was Ralph Earnhardt’s number – Dale Sr.’s dad, Dale Jr.’s grandfather – and Senior bought it from the Stavola Brothers for Junior to run. Would DEI consider selling the lease to that number to Junior’s new employers so that he can keep it in the family?Siegel: Again, the owners lease that number from NASCAR itself and that’s something that’s not a decision I would make on my own. It’s certainly something that we’ll discuss in the future. But if I had to bet, the No. 8 would stay in the family at DEI.

Unfortunately, I believe Theresa owns the number 8. However, I believe this is a provisional year in the DEI contract for Busweiser, so when Junior goes, Budweiser most likely will go too. But, for Junior, a number change will be good, because that means all of his fans will have to go out and buy new stuff, which means LOTS of money for Junior. Happy Racing!

Budweiser's contract with DEI is up at the end of the season and they have already made it pretty clear that they want to follow Jr wherever it is he ends up and the numbers are owned by the teams and Im pretty sure that Teresa is not going to give the number up.

Budweiser will follow him but I hope he gets the number from teresa. I always will associate "8" with Jr, Beer, and Women. I swear NASCAR super store made all the "8" tank top for women 3 size smaller. I noticed that all the Jr fans are very dedicated even with my sour comments. If Jr dont get his number, I wont get the same feeling when Jeff laps a #8 car driven by umptysquat. Im sure its vice versa for the Jr fans. Women, keep buying those shirts! Cars arent the only thing that goes with beer.

not to sure about keeping his sponsor I hear that he will. But as for the number 8 no!!! That , belongs to dear evil stepmother Teresa and DEI. I Am a member of nascar.com and understand he might take his dads #3. I think Childres holds the rites to that number, but if jr. driver for Richard, there u have it, can u imagine whew lordly. that would be awsome.

First of all, without a doubt he'll keep Budweiser. He has a contract with them through 2008, and I'm sure that contract will be renewed. Second... no, he can't keep the #8. That number is owned by DEI, just like Richard Childress owns the #3.

McClintock said it all.
DEI keeps the number and there are many issues with Bud going with Jr as a sponsor. Visa is rumored to be trying to sign Jr. They have the money and dont have the RCR - Jack Daniels, Gibbs - Christian, Penske - Miller, Hendrick is full, Roush is full, Ginn - Army, Ganassi - Coors conflicts. Bud really limits the options for him.

Yes as true as it is..DEI owns the #8..BUT..Budweiser who is contracted with Jr. could in all likelyhood buy out the number from ..well...you know who....(and dont see that happening) ... would be the only way for him to carry it with him. I feel in the future Jr.,Bud.,and whatever # he decides on or is decided for him will stay as it has been for his duration as a NASCAR competitor.
