WASHINGTON - In the most important ruling on gun control in 70 years, a federal appeals court Friday for the first time used the Second Amendment to strike down a gun law.

In a 2-1 decision, the court overturned the District of Columbia’s long-standing handgun ban, rejecting the city’s argument that the Second Amendment right to bear arms applied only to militias.

The majority held that the activities protected by the Second Amendment “are not limited to militia service, nor is an individual’s enjoyment of the right contingent” on enrollment in a militia.

“The district’s definition of the militia is just too narrow,” Judge Laurence Silberman wrote for the majority. “There are too many instances of ‘bear arms’ indicating private use to conclude that the drafters intended only a military sense.”

Please don't answer if you don't actually know....If I do a functional major for an English B.S. in Ed. degree, then would it hinder getting a job at any high schools? I mean, since there is not an extra thing to put on the resume. Also, please don't answer by saying just to do a minor. I just want to know how a functional will affect getting a job. Thanks in advance.

I know that parrots can be trained to have a harness on so they can go on a 'walk' but what are the dangers of bird flu? Do you have to be in direct contact with a bird with the virus or is it airborne? I realise I am ignorant on this matter and probably worrying over nothing!

i was born with cerebal palsy and have been living with it for 28 years. it affects my left arm and both my legs. i walk with a little more than a limp but refuse to go on a wheel chair for now. i get around. i am a confident spastic to society. i am in my point of life where i would like to find a long term relationship and perhaps start a family. i am independant and work for myself. i value intelligence in women, everything else is a bonus. i have tried libraries, church, cafe, friends homes and meet girls who offer attention, conversation, phone numbers, email address but i'm having it hard to go any further. i feel i am getting old and am looking to be settled by the time im 30, which is perhaps only putting myself with pressure which makes me act without patience.
