Put things in the cabinet nearest to where you will be using them.

Cooking utensils near the stove.
Dishes and silverware near the sink and dishwasher.

Food organized by category in the pantry.

Cooking foods and additives (spices etc) near the stove.

I organize mine by how I use things. I store items close to where I'll use them. Coffee, mugs, filters go near the coffee maker. Pots and pans near the oven. Silverwear close to the dishwasher for easier unloading, etc. etc. Use your logical common sense - what makes sense for YOU.
