How old did a gentleman have to be to become a schoolmaster? And how old were the students he taught? Can you guys tell me anything more about gentlemen during the EARLY victorian era who were schoolmasters? Any internet links?

Go to the library. There are books about what life was like in Victorian (and a variety of others) times. It depends on where and exactly when you were talking about. Victoria had a 60+ year reign, during most of the industrial revolution, so things were vastly different from the 1840's to 1902 when she died. Urban schools were different from rural ones, as well.

I would guess that they would be any age over 16, as soon as they were old enough to leave school and pass a teaching exam. Some were likely college graduates, perhaps some not physically fit for manual labor.

Louisa May Alcott's father, Bronson Alcott, had some unique ideas about education (unique for the time, we employ them today), and ran a few schools in different places.

I would guess they could be around 16 years of age. Of course, I am thinking back to Little House on the Prairie.

No- instructors, tutors have been servant type... possibly provider provider genteel, yet via no potential invited to balls and intricate events. those have been attended via the 'ton:' the better "10000" of england, or those with noble blood, whether it become skinny and that they have got been excessively undesirable.
