why did mohomed marry a 9 year old girl? why did he have so many wives and concubines?

mohomed married them to protect them and help them

does it mean that as a man myself, each time i help a woman or girl who is in need of help that i should demand sexual favours from her?
now why couldent mohomed help thse women without expecting sexual favors from them in return?
