My husband received a work related injury to his knee, meniscus torn, went on L & I, had surgery last nov. he had his impairment rating and concurrence with his physician, rating as 10% whole body. 2 months ago he tore his other meniscus on his other knee (not at work, just walking) we believe it was from the stress put on his good knee compensating the bad knee. L & I found out he was going to have surgery and told him if he did not continue with vocational services he may not get anthing from them, he decided against the second surgery...so now, will he get a settlement for his first injury covered on L & I, and if so when? it has been since Aug. when he had the imparement rating, they changed claims managers and the new one is really mean and threatened he may get nothing because of the other knee, is this legal?

My husaband and I are at odd's on what to get our son for christmas. Our son wants the Hot Wheels Radar Gun and my husband thinks it's a stupid idea. He says he has nothing to use on it. Everytime we go to the store, my son always finds it and makes sure I see it and says "this is what I want mom". It's only 20 bucks and it's christmas. Am I wrong for fighting for the present for my son. And to answer the small question, my husband is my sons real dad.

This clash is between Chinese parents and Chinese-American children. This can occur as a result of differences in the birthplaces or be a simple result of time (among other issues). How does this affect the children in comparison to your culture?

My sister-in-law is very jealous of our family, and she's expressed this jealosy to her mother who told my mother who told me. Long story short--we have everything in a family she's always wanted.

She wants to take my son out for a play date with her friend's son. On the surface, I'm thinking, "yes! I can do shopping and cleaning! Thank you!"

However, today she told us that she was feeling out of place being with her friends who have kids and want to feel at home.

I'm feeling like she's using our son to fit in with her friends. I understand, but could I not be involved as well? That's me being selfish, but I've expressed a desire to attend as well.

This hurts, stemming from the point that our church basically considers our son to be hers since we had a child out of wedlock. Doesn't make sense, but that's how they've treated us.

The question: how should I approach this? While I know that I cannot block my own feelings, I know that there is no solution.

Salamanders regrow their tail when it is amputated. Starfish regrow their limbs too. Yet every human amputee is left out of the regeneration process. Are human prayers merely missing their intended mark and benefitting other species?

disciplining my kids. What creative punishment did you recieve or do you inflict on your kids.
"one of my co-workers on his daughter, the one where she kept leaving the milk out, and he made her carry around the spoiled gallon of milk all day. I wonder why more parents don't get creative like that with their discipline. Certainly there are punishments much more interesting than just grounding and spanking. Of all of the methods, the craziest punishment that I have ever heard of was from one of my friends that I worked on airplanes with, in Wichita. When he and his brothers were bad, his mom would toss handfuls of dry rice on the kitchen floor and make them kneel on it for varying lengths of time. He said it was uncomfortable as hell, but it never even left a mark. What a darn creative woman. My parents were much more of traditionalists; what about yours? What strange punishments have you endured or heard of?

Calculate DS in units of J/K for the formation of 1 mol of HI(g) from its elements in their standard states.
Work:
H(g) + I(g) > HI(g)
1mol HI * 206.33J/K - ( 1mol H(g)*114.60J/K + 1mol I(g)*180.67) =
-88.94 J/K

Calculate DS for the formation of 1 mole of PCl5(g) from the elements P4(s, white) and Cl2(g).
Work:
P4(s) + 10CL2(g) > 4PCl5

4*353J/K - (41.1 J/K + 10*223 J/K) = -859 J/K

Sulfur dioxide is released in the combustion of coal. Scrubbers remove much of the SO2 from the flue gases by reaction with lime slurries containing solid calcium hydroxide to form solid calcium sulfite and liquid water. Calculate So in units of J/K for the reaction of exactly one mole of sulfur dioxide gas in this scrubbing process at 298 K.
[So of calcium sulfite(s) = 101.4 J/mol.K]

My Work:
SO2 + calcium sulfite > CaSO4+H2O
(107+69.94) - (248.1+101.4) = -173 J/K

being that its at 298K I dont think i need to use G=H-TS
