Statute of limitations on this is several years, but seeing as how it would probably be a misdemeanor, they will probably stop looking within a couple of weeks.
You DO realize, don't you, that your computer and what you added here could be seen as a "confession", don't you?

It really depends on what the charges would be. There is a legal stipulation for all charges called "Statute of limitations". If the charge is serious like murder, there is no limit and you can be arrested any time until your death.
Shooting someone with water could be a serious misdemeanor such as simple assault. Statute of limitations vary by the state where the crime was committed. I'd say 3 to 5 years is about the most you'd have to worry about.
On the other hand, if the person(s) you got wet suffered some injury or your actions caused something else to happen such as a car wreck, you could be on the hook for more serious charges if the resulting event was injurious.
And don't think of this as personal injury only. People suffer monetary injuries from damages. If your actions of shooting water has damaged some expensive property, like a work of art, you could be charged with felony vandalism. There are other reasons to elevate charge to felony such as gang involvement, prior record or a hate crime come to mind.
Whatever your circumstances, the best thing to do is to turn yourself in to authorities. Be honest and forthcoming with all aspects of the incident. Its best to be truthful and seek redemption for wrongdoing.
Good luck with this. I hope you do the right thing.
Kind regards,

If it was simple assault, there is a statute of limitations, as far as prosecution. If the police do not find the suspect on the date the crime was committed, then police Detectives will follow up and investigate, by interviewing witnesses and possible suspects. For simple assault, most statutes run between 2 to 7 years.
It would be safe to assume then, that the police still have a lot of time to find you and have you prosecuted.

The crime would be misdemeaner assualt. The statute of limitations would vary by state. You posting it on here could be used as a confession in court. If you are under 18 you would probably get probation and your parents a small fine. If over 18 maybe a couple days in jail and a fine with probation. Depends on the judge and your prior record.

Now I think I've seen everything...
It's years - not hours.
You used a water pistol in "self-defense?"
I've never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life.
They will issue a warrant for your arrest and you will just have to be REAL careful. If they were all out looking for you - they're pissed and probably won't forget about this anytime soon.
A water pistol?

its 30 years for rape and murder has no limitation but cops will keep looking for you into the limitation runs out and its not a matter of hours but years. I would not get cockey about if I were you. if I were I would turn myself in they can shoot you and pay for what you did.

Police are not limited to hours.
How long they have to catch you depends on what crime you committed and the Stature of Limitations that would apply to that crime.

It is not hours, it is years,
If they know who you are, and a warrant is issued, it will never expire, if they don't know who you are there is a state statue of limitation
